I’ve finished Wineskin 1.1.30 beta2, and I’m making it available for download!

Please report any found bugs to me ASAP!

Slight update to 2.1 – fixed an annoying bug causing XQuartz to mess up if spaces were in the path or app name.

New in this version 1.1.30beta2

  • Built in Xquartz 2.4.0
    • Xquartz is now part of Wineskin, so it doesn’t use X11.app. This keeps things the same, without what is installed on the users machine mattering. It also runs a bit better than the default X11 installed on Snow Leopard, and gives your app its own Icon on the dock, and top menu bar options, editable in a menu.nib
  • upgraded to Wine 1.1.30
  • Winetricks app improved
    • There is now a click menu to choose from instead of having to type the package name **Wineskin will NOT close when Winetricks is done. This fixes several issues with Winetricks, but you have to manually quit the running wrapper when Winetricks is done. It is not done until it shows the log that says its done. Some downloads it does can run in the background for a long time
  • Installer app improved
    • It now has a menu where you can view your machine and click and select what file you want to run, without having to type like the old version
  • Kill Wineskin app added
    • To be used to help clear up problems, this will kill all running Wineskin, Wine, and X11 processes, not just the current wrapper.
  • Changed Custom EXE launcher apps
    • You can now make as many as you want, they have their own Info.plist, and must be in the same folder as the main wrapper app is… useful for like an extra setup.exe, they run things from inside their main associated app
  • Added Wine compression
    • The Wine.bundle compresses when not in use, and uncompresses when needed. This adds barely any time to starting an app, and not even noticeable on faster computers. This cuts about 65mb off the wrapper size when its not in use… which is helpful if you have many Wineskin based ports
  • Please read the included Manual for all features and how to use them!
    • its 5 pages long and should answer most of your questions

Can’t rename what app? The main wine skin app can be renamed, and the customEXE app… The others cannot… There was no need to put extra code and time wasted getting the name, when there is no need to change it.

I’ve tested a varity of names and can’t get it to fail

I fixed the spaces problem in beta 2.1 …. there is still a problem running on 10.5 machines with an older version of XQuartz installed… I am working on it, but I haven’t found a good fix yet… I may have to just let it run the installed version of Xquartz, but still have the custom icon and name and things, not use X11.app.

Xquartz documentation stinks, and I cannot get a good compiled version running in a non-standard prefix, which is what I need to take care of all problems…
