Need for Speed II is a 1997 racing video game, developed by Electronic Arts Canada and published by Electronic Arts. It is a part of the Need for Speed series and sequel to The Need for Speed (1994), significantly deviating from the emphasis of realism in The Need for Speed to arcade-like gameplay, though it introduces the car tuning. As does its predecessor, Need for Speed II features several exotic cars, and includes tracks set in various parts of the world. The game also opted to remove police pursuits introduced in The Need for Speed.
Notes:
A Glide wrapper has been installed and hardware acceleration is supported. Keyboard issues have been fixed. Set resolution is 1280×800. Other widescreen resolutions are possible. All music and video files are included – nothing was ripped.
Known Issues:
The game can be a bit unstable which may results in random crashes during application startup.
If the app should hang/freeze, press ALT-CMD-ESC to force quit it. Should the game not start up properly try it again until it does.
The sound sometimes has minor distortion issues but they are hardly noticable. I suggest you leave race music OFF to minimize this bug.
