The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game Of The Year Edition
Personal Notes:
How to add/remove mods:
I've included a (very) simple automator script that opens up the data folder, plugins.txt, and deletes your Oblivion Preferences folder. This doesn't install mods for you, it just speeds up the manual process of adding and removing mods. All you have to do is replace the folder/file locations in the automator script with your own by dragging and dropping, then deleting the old folder/file locations. After that, run it, and if it works, save it as an app.
I know there is already an existing port, but some people have been wanting a wrapper for it so they don't have to download everything.

Status: GREEN Fully Playable
Game Description:
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (often referenced as Oblivion) is a single-player role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios, and published by Bethesda Softworks and the Take-Two Interactive subsidiary 2K Games.
Oblivion's main story revolves around the player character's efforts to thwart a fanatical cult who plan to open the gates to a hellish realm called Oblivion and unleash its horrors on the mortal world. The game continues the open-world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely. Developers opted for a tighter pacing and greater plot focus than in past titles.
Development for Oblivion began in 2002, directly after the release of Morrowind. In order to achieve their goals of designing "cutting-edge graphics" and creating a more believable environment, Bethesda made use of an improved Havok physics engine; high dynamic range lighting; procedural content generation tools that allowed developers to quickly create detailed terrains; and the Radiant AI system, which allows non-player characters (NPCs) to make choices and engage in behaviors more complex than in past titles. The game was developed with fully voiced dialogueâ€â€a first for the seriesâ€â€and features the music of BAFTA-award-winning composer Jeremy Soule.

thanks, this is wonderful, glad someone understands some of us dont want to pirate =D Thabks
When I put my copy of the game in and try to start the game aqll I get is an error that has the Oblivion logo on it and says "Application failed to start, unable to copy preferences folder"
Any ideas?...I want to see if this wrapper is better than the one I just posted the full game in....not my port but I found it at TPB and though people here would appreciate the link. The sound breaks too often and then fixes itself during gameplay in the wrapper I have. I would like to get rid of that.

This wrapper won't work because there is no Preferences folder inside of the resources folder.
K, I'm looking into it.
Thanks
Alright, new wrapper uploaded, this one contains a proper Preferences folder. If this wrapper didn't work for you before, try it again. ;)
Thanks DankoB for pointing this out.
[EDIT] Hold up, not working properly. Give me another couple of minutes.
[UPDATE] Unfortunately, in the process of making a newer Preferences folder with Regedit, I deleted my old Preferences folder, and the new one that was created doesn't work. Even worse is that I didn't create a backup of this. So, this might take me a couple of hours(maybe days, depending on how busy I am) to fix.
[UPDATE2] Ok, so I forgot that I had made a time machine backup last night. Uploading the new wrapper as we speak, and this one works perfect.
Thanks DankoB for pointing this out.

Alright, new wrapper uploaded. This one *should* work.
Does HDR work in this wrapper? Because in DankoB's wrapper it does not, although I have seen it work in other wrappers. DankoB's wrapper, however, does let me run the game with almost all graphical settings to high.
Crashes with an "unhandled page fault" on launch.
clocknova: No, HDR can't be enabled.
Could you run this in terminal please, so I can see the exact errors you're getting?

Just to be clear I simply created the PT download page....the port isn't actually mine.....I just made it more accessible to people here!
I'm downloading now and will give it a shot....Thanks!

Oh, and to answer your question DankoB, I don't have any sound problems or graphic issues, just less fps compared to running in Windows 7.
Also, if you encounter an error, please run it in terminal and post the log. Thanks! :)

No errors on my part!!! Great port!
I'm stoked you don't have any sound issues because that was the biggest drawback as to why I wasn't going to play this right away and now I don't have to worry about losing sound throughout the game, Thanks again!
I haven't really noticed any differences between the two ports, oh, except that yours is better!!! Are the DLC's enabled, Shivering Isles & Knights of the Nine? If not there are instructions to get them running over in the full games rpg thread.
Thanks again for getting this up again so promptly! Great job
Edit * I don't know how you put up with that icon....here try this one....much better quality!

Ah, thanks. I just copied the one from the Windows install, this one is much higher quality. :)
And yes, both KotK and the Shivering Isles are pre-enabled. Just tested them and they're working fine.
If you apply any other mods though, you have to edit the Plugins.txt in the Preferences folder like you said in your thread.
Also, updated the wrapper with the new, better icon.

I just dragged the existing install from DankoB's wrapper into this one, but I got the error above. What did you do, Danko?
