Personal Notes:
How to add/remove mods:
I've included a (very) simple automator script that opens up the data folder, plugins.txt, and deletes your Oblivion Preferences folder. This doesn't install mods for you, it just speeds up the manual process of adding and removing mods. All you have to do is replace the folder/file locations in the automator script with your own by dragging and dropping, then deleting the old folder/file locations. After that, run it, and if it works, save it as an app.

I know there is already an existing port, but some people have been wanting a wrapper for it so they don't have to download everything.

Status: GREEN Fully Playable

Game Description:
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (often referenced as Oblivion) is a single-player role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios, and published by Bethesda Softworks and the Take-Two Interactive subsidiary 2K Games.
Oblivion's main story revolves around the player character's efforts to thwart a fanatical cult who plan to open the gates to a hellish realm called Oblivion and unleash its horrors on the mortal world. The game continues the open-world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely. Developers opted for a tighter pacing and greater plot focus than in past titles.
Development for Oblivion began in 2002, directly after the release of Morrowind. In order to achieve their goals of designing "cutting-edge graphics" and creating a more believable environment, Bethesda made use of an improved Havok physics engine; high dynamic range lighting; procedural content generation tools that allowed developers to quickly create detailed terrains; and the Radiant AI system, which allows non-player characters (NPCs) to make choices and engage in behaviors more complex than in past titles. The game was developed with fully voiced dialogue—a first for the series—and features the music of BAFTA-award-winning composer Jeremy Soule.

Could someone upload the wrapper that DankoB posted? I'd like to run some tests to see if I can get this thing running faster.

Here are a few things I've noticed over the past couple of days:
1. While you have the water ripple enabled, it only seems to work if you walk through water, and doesn't get any ripples from wind simulation.
2. The water graphics seem to be stuck on medium, and even when changed to high, they stay the same quality.
3. After testing in both Windows and this Cider port, the "RendererInfo.txt" file that the Cider port generates is different from the one that Windows generates. This could be the main problem for most of the graphical errors, as 3.0 pixel shaders don't seem to be working. Here are the two RendererInfo.txt files so you can compare them yourself.
   Windows "RendererInfo.txt"
   Cider "RendererInfo.txt"

And note: When using the Oblivion Mod Manager, it will generate a new plugins.txt file. You have to copy this file from
/drive_c/Users/[username]/Local Settings/Application Data/oblivion/
to
Oblivion - GOTY.app/Contents/Resources/Preferences/p_drive/User/Local Settings/Application Data/Oblivion/
And lastly, I want to make this very clear.
If you EVER change your plugins.txt file, you MUST delete your "Oblivion GOTY - Preferences" folder.
You may not always get errors if you don't, but there is a high chance that mods won't work properly or you'll have errors thrown.
Haha, there's a rookie mistake on my part....I didn't even think about the pathway associated to the custom .exe. Oh well. Thanks for x'ing out my name, although I'm not overly concerned with people knowing my name, it's my S.I.N. and credit info I want to keep out of those hands!

I just made a self contained wineskin mod manager with an instruction video that is very easy to follow along to.

I'm just about to upload it now so I'll post it once it has finished.

Wineskin SC Oblivion Mod Manager w/ wine 1.1.40

Inside the folder you will find the OBMM and a zipped .mov file which concisely explains how to create the custom exe installer (extremely simple process) and install the mod manager into the game folder (also very easy)

Have fun, hope it works!

I wonder if you know where I can put save game files? I've been playing the game for some time, and have all the save files with me, so it'd be useful to start from where I left off!

Thanks,

Tim.
Just drag and drop them into:
/Users/[YOUR USERNAME]/Documents/My games/oblivion/Saves/
;)

Also, I don't want to keep bothering people, but could someone please upload the wrapper of the port DankoB posted?
Here you go Nightblaze....I forgot that I still had it and came across it in my completed downloads folder, otherwise I would have posted last week!

Ah, thanks DankoB.

I get an error halfway through loading it. :/
I'll see if I can get it running and mine working properly graphic-wise over the next few weeks, might take a while though, as I have college finals. Oh, well.
I came up with a solution to the ugly water problem. In the config file, set:

"FloatTextures" = "Y"

It's in the [d3dgl] section, and it's set to "N" in OP's wrapper. Happy wading everyone =)

(Of course, make sure to edit both the "in-use" config file in your Preferences and the backup config file inside the .app itself)

Edit: Rim lighting effects aren't working (like when you draw/use an enchanted item, or cast heal). My framerate is a bit lower with this build too; it fluctuates from 30-55fps after caching everything indoors where the old wrapper leveled off at 60.
Nightblaze, the wrapper worked relatively painlessly for me! Thank you!
Here is a link to a WineskinSC Oblivion Mod Manager with instructions....

Hey, can this wrapper be used on a downloaded version of the game for us cheap and less honorable folk? Do you do the same thing in the instructions? What if you don't have any mods or anything, is that ok?
muffindemon, Im not using a legal copy, as much as i would like to because it is a good game.

I don't have any mods myself, as they aernt really needed.
In the instructions it says you have to install oblivion to windows. Does this mean we have to have bootcamp set up or something?
No, you can also use devilhunter's native installer - viewtopic.php?f=107&t=4799
Ok i downloaded the native installer. I try to open the .exe file with it but it says it quits unexpectedly. I also have crossover installed, could this be the problem?
