Quake is a first-person shooter video game that was released by id Software on June 22, 1996. It was the first game in the popularQuake series of video games. It was made available on Steam on August 3, 2007.[1]
Much of Quake's popularity occurred because it was one of the few games of its kind playable over the internet rather than just a local network.
Personal Notes:
Im going to port all the Quake games.

who cares if their native, hes doing it for fun or to learn. besides its always good to have a bigger library of games and apps on this site and it couldn't hurt
But what is the point of learning with games which nobody has played for over 4 years
Yes some of th games on the site are old but they are the games that were designed to last
with quake 3 an quake they were not designed to last past the next one in the series
No offense to ID software they are cool and the doom series at least will last forever....

yea but who cares if no ones going to use it, he probably knows that but he would be doing this for fun or to learn. you can learn by porting old games too, its good to start off small and then eventually build up to the big games. no point in starting with crysis 2 if you dont know much about porting
Whilst I agree with playn, here's a link to a bunch of guys who have re-written the client, rather than use a wrapper:
http://www.fruitz-of...p/download.php4
They even have an improved engine:
"TenebraeQuake is an enhanced Quake client with more advanced graphic algorithms like stencil shadows and bump-mapping. It is much more hardware demanding than the original Quake."
OS X 10.6+, Intel only.
They also provide a Quake 2 engine, though they don't specify the requirements other than OS X.
I used them both years back, and they were fantastic.
