Set in the shattered subway of a post apocalyptic Moscow, Metro 2033 is a story of intensive underground survival where the fate of mankind rests in your hands.

In 2013 the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the earth’s surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age.

The year is 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the mutant horrors that await outside.

You are Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised Underground. Having never ventured beyond your Metro Station-City limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat. Your journey takes you from the forgotten catacombs beneath the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where your actions will determine the fate of mankind.

Personal Notes:
Great game with an absolutely amazing story line and graphics.. even on low it looks fantastic!

Please note: Due to this being an extremely graphically demanding game, you need a high end computer to run this nicely on windows. So if you don't have a recent Mac, don't expect great speeds through Wine, and even if you play it on windows.

Walkthrough

Minimum System Requirements:
* Dual core CPU (any Core 2 Duo or better will do)
* DirectX 9, Shader Model 3 compliant graphics cards (GeForce 8800, GeForce GT220 and above)
* 1GB RAM

Runs near flawlessly for me on the preset low (and even high) settings and with vsync ON (that disables 3D processes which in turn gives an fps boost)

Known Issues:
- Minor graphical flickering in menus and the loading screen
- Loading screen won't act like normal, but instead stays on the first frame. Voice over works fine though. (if it looks like Metro 2033 is frozen, it's not, just wait for it to load)

Installation:
Razor1911 Release with the SKIDROW update is Recommended If Using a Cracked Version.
(unzip the archive with 7zX)

Install Metro 2033 into the wrapper, crack and update it, Double Click and Play!
- Game runs best after a fresh restart, although this isn't needed but recommended for best experience.
[Optional] - A tip. For slight better performance in game, change the in game resolution to something else, and then change it back to what it was (1280x800 by default) the game will run more smooth then. Especially on the main menu!
[Optional] - This is my config file that gives me great fps and also great graphics. The changed controls are shift = duck and cmd/option = sprint.
open the Metro 2033.app (secondary click > show package contents) and navigate to "drive_c/users/Wineskin/Local Settings/Application Data/4A Games/Metro 2033/"
open the user.cfg file with TextEdit and replace everything in there with the code below (r_gi 1 might also help)

I am testing for Intel HD 3000
I am testing for intel HD 3000
i need help installing the game someone please help me i tried a lot of ways and it's still not working. i keep getting an error that says "set EXE not found"  i don't know what to do

thx
Hey,

Alright all you need to do is grab the game (bought or downloaded etc.), then open the wrapper (secondary click > show package contents) and run WineskinSettings.app (I think it's called that) > then click on install > choose the setup.exe file for the Metro 2033 game you bought/downloaded.

If it asks you to install physx or directx, just say no. But if it forces you to install it just do it.

The latest wrapper (update 2) only works with the second update of the game (haven't tested on any newer updates), so try to update Metro 2033 to that. If you can't, then I think I have some instructions up on one of these comment pages about how to make it work with the non-updated version of Metro 2033.

Other then that, hopefully it works, if not theres also a lot of different things I've posted in these pages with potential fixes. Also, this guide might be helpful as well: http://web.archive.o...hp?f=159&t=4493

The thread for the link above is gone for some reason, will have to fix that, but luckily it's still cached.
the game worked i get a black screen for 5 seconds then the game quits
i think the problem is that i didn't set up the game with the setup.exe when i run it i get an error that says access denied
i ran the razor1911_installer.exe and it worked fine
i don't know what to do now
Ok, so are you still getting the black screen when you try to play the game now? If you are then open up WineskinSettings.app again and click on the button that says "test run". It will give you logs of the game, post them up on pastebin.com and then the link to the logs here.

Also in WineskinSettings.app, make sure that in Wineskin Configuration, the Windows EXE field says
/Program Files/METRO 2033/metro2033.exe

Ah sorry, I forgot to mention that I need the other logs. Should be called something like "WineLogs". It would be in the same place you got the X11 log from (the one you linked me to)
i put the both of them in one, there was last run and lastrunx11 . I couldn't find wineLogs.
here are the links:

Last Run: http://pastebin.com/fJQpHnW0

LAstRunx11: http://pastebin.com/n93R3YMX
I see, I think I know.

First I'll ask just in case. Did you use 7zX to extract the .7z file? If not, then you should use that.

To fix, go back into wineskin settings.app > advanced > tools > winetricks.
Run the package called "vcrun2005"

Then try the game and hopefully it works!
i get an error that says:
"Error winetricks will fail and mess things up because you have spaces somewhere in its path. Remove the spaces in the wrapper name  ( or the path leading to the wrapper)".

i did unzip with 7zX
i am starting all over again i did exactly what i had to do switched the 2 last 2 items in the library to built in from native
i tried to run winetricks and i still get the same error
Yeah that's fine, just do what it says now. Rename the Metro 2033.app wrapper to Metro2033.
Then if you still get the same error, make sure there is no space in the path leading up to Metro2033.app.

So, for example this is correct (using the desktop as an example):
~/Users/YOUR_USERNAME/Desktop/Metro2033.app

And this is not correct
~/Users/YOUR USERNAME/Desktop/Metro 2033.app

And then of course try the thing with Winetricks again that I said in the previous post.
i did exactly what you said and it still wont work and the total size after all that is 6.22 GBs
Well what's it doing now?

Just a note, I see you have an Intel HD3000. Your Mac probably won't be able to play this game at a good fps rate, even in Windows.
thought so, thanks for your help Playn i really appreciate your help :)
guess gotta find another similar game

thanks again,
