Set in the shattered subway of a post apocalyptic Moscow, Metro 2033 is a story of intensive underground survival where the fate of mankind rests in your hands.

In 2013 the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the earth’s surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age.

The year is 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the mutant horrors that await outside.

You are Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised Underground. Having never ventured beyond your Metro Station-City limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat. Your journey takes you from the forgotten catacombs beneath the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where your actions will determine the fate of mankind.

Personal Notes:
Great game with an absolutely amazing story line and graphics.. even on low it looks fantastic!

Please note: Due to this being an extremely graphically demanding game, you need a high end computer to run this nicely on windows. So if you don't have a recent Mac, don't expect great speeds through Wine, and even if you play it on windows.

Walkthrough

Minimum System Requirements:
* Dual core CPU (any Core 2 Duo or better will do)
* DirectX 9, Shader Model 3 compliant graphics cards (GeForce 8800, GeForce GT220 and above)
* 1GB RAM

Runs near flawlessly for me on the preset low (and even high) settings and with vsync ON (that disables 3D processes which in turn gives an fps boost)

Known Issues:
- Minor graphical flickering in menus and the loading screen
- Loading screen won't act like normal, but instead stays on the first frame. Voice over works fine though. (if it looks like Metro 2033 is frozen, it's not, just wait for it to load)

Installation:
Razor1911 Release with the SKIDROW update is Recommended If Using a Cracked Version.
(unzip the archive with 7zX)

Install Metro 2033 into the wrapper, crack and update it, Double Click and Play!
- Game runs best after a fresh restart, although this isn't needed but recommended for best experience.
[Optional] - A tip. For slight better performance in game, change the in game resolution to something else, and then change it back to what it was (1280x800 by default) the game will run more smooth then. Especially on the main menu!
[Optional] - This is my config file that gives me great fps and also great graphics. The changed controls are shift = duck and cmd/option = sprint.
open the Metro 2033.app (secondary click > show package contents) and navigate to "drive_c/users/Wineskin/Local Settings/Application Data/4A Games/Metro 2033/"
open the user.cfg file with TextEdit and replace everything in there with the code below (r_gi 1 might also help)

What's New in Version 1.2 (See full changelog)

  • - Support for Metro 2033 Update 2 which includes the new DLC maps.
  • - Started work on getting Benchmark to work. Will be done when DotNET Framework 3.5 is supported in WINE.

No probs. Good luck with your future games!
Thanks, will try this one. However the download link lost it's path (ends with a "?") maybe it's temporary down time.
I'll try it again later. I used the one in the commands (http://kmsnrk.link-protector.com/?)
Oh don't worry about the links in the comments, just use the download wrapper button at the top of the port post. That link you're trying is most likely dead by now.
I've used Skidrows release with both updates applied under Parallels, moved game files inside of the wrapper - not a big deal. I could run the game with this port, with minor glitches in menu. But as someone before reported, in-game graphics are distorted. Sound is fine, 2d graphics too (menu), but 3d rendering is screwed up (image is cut up in triangle-like forms), also cursor movement seems to be jumpy.
I know that this problem exist only on AMD/ATI graphics.

If I can be any help in future releases of this port (like testing), just gimme a shout, guys. Great work anyway! :)
ok so when i launch the game it just comes up with a black screen and says Application Load Error: 5: 0000065434

You use the steam version:
Need a steam loader--> UPDATED: How to port Steam games
Great port, playn!  I can see that you put a lot of effort into this.  Too bad my graphics card is too weak for these graphics....  I get 15 fps at best :(
@ wMin17, on the bright side, 15FPS is still, well, playable..ish (from my perspective anyway ;)).

I've encountered a minor problem before I've even installed the game though, is it just more does the DVD for this game not work on Macs? Both my macs with functioning DVD drives have spit the disc out, I'm gonna check with a windows PC later on either Friday or Saturday but is it possible that the disc is formatted for Windows only? I don't want to have to DL it through steam, there'd go all my data :(
Thanks for the port!

When trying to play the Steam version, it tells me that my graphics card must be at least compatible with Shader 3.0 and then closes. I have Intel HD 3000, but all of my other system specs meet the requirement. Is there anything I can do to play the game?
I'm getting an Error telling me the following:

'Microsoft XAudio2:
CPU does not meet minimum requirement; Streaming SIMD Extensions support required.'

I'm trying to run it on a MacBook Pro Retina (GF GT650m) running Lion 10.7.4. Any ideas?
@MNagler, I have this issue on 4 games (HomeFront, Black Ops, Left 4 Dead 2…).
I think the Retina is the problem. This is a chance to have this computer, but a pain in the buttocks for ported games !
I just tried installing/wrapping Legend of Grimrock on my Retina MBP, and can confirm getting the same error(s).

Edit: This was under Lion 10.7.4. I wonder if anything will be different after upgrading to 10.8...

Look inside your disc cover. (I think product key is designed for Steam.)
