Set in the shattered subway of a post apocalyptic Moscow, Metro 2033 is a story of intensive underground survival where the fate of mankind rests in your hands.
In 2013 the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the earth’s surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age.
The year is 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the mutant horrors that await outside.
You are Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised Underground. Having never ventured beyond your Metro Station-City limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat. Your journey takes you from the forgotten catacombs beneath the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where your actions will determine the fate of mankind.
Personal Notes:
Great game with an absolutely amazing story line and graphics.. even on low it looks fantastic!
Please note: Due to this being an extremely graphically demanding game, you need a high end computer to run this nicely on windows. So if you don't have a recent Mac, don't expect great speeds through Wine, and even if you play it on windows.
Review
Walkthrough
Minimum System Requirements:
* Dual core CPU (any Core 2 Duo or better will do)
* DirectX 9, Shader Model 3 compliant graphics cards (GeForce 8800, GeForce GT220 and above)
* 1GB RAM
Runs near flawlessly for me on the preset low (and even high) settings and with vsync ON (that disables 3D processes which in turn gives an fps boost)
Known Issues:
- Minor graphical flickering in menus and the loading screen
- Loading screen won't act like normal, but instead stays on the first frame. Voice over works fine though. (if it looks like Metro 2033 is frozen, it's not, just wait for it to load)
Installation:
Razor1911 Release with the SKIDROW update is Recommended If Using a Cracked Version.
(unzip the archive with 7zX)
Install Metro 2033 into the wrapper, crack and update it, Double Click and Play!
- Game runs best after a fresh restart, although this isn't needed but recommended for best experience.
[Optional] - A tip. For slight better performance in game, change the in game resolution to something else, and then change it back to what it was (1280x800 by default) the game will run more smooth then. Especially on the main menu!
[Optional] - This is my config file that gives me great fps and also great graphics. The changed controls are shift = duck and cmd/option = sprint.
open the Metro 2033.app (secondary click > show package contents) and navigate to "drive_c/users/Wineskin/Local Settings/Application Data/4A Games/Metro 2033/"
open the user.cfg file with TextEdit and replace everything in there with the code below (r_gi 1 might also help)
(If you're going to put this on other sites, please give the proper credits. Just leave this section in. Thank-you)

With the Razor1911 release, you still need to copy over the crack found in the Razor1911 folder on the ISO.
Then try it.
I also downloaded a version of Metro in 2033 Razor1911 and I did not understand how to install the game! run setup.exe to install but ended after a few seconds and look in the folder "Program Files" has just installed Steam! Then find another file from the ISO that Razor1911_Installer.exe run the file and start installing the game then asks me to find the file Metro 2033_disk1_0 and I am continuing the installation folder with the Metro 2033 that occupies only 3 GB with only 8 files within! this procedure is right? in fact putting the folder on the 2033 Metro Wrapper get an error saying that the file metro2033.exe must close! Help me!

the installed folder "METRO 2033" should be 7.56GB (after update.. not sure what before update, but itll be roughly the same)
once you get it working, let us know how it goes :) i hope it works fine on ATI. if not then ill try and fix it somehow
Ok I solved thanks! Now the game takes up about 7 GB I installed Crack! I put the installation on the wrapper and started very well the intro videos are very detailed! But the bad thing is missing textures in the menu even if I change the resolution and everything when! Start a new game to play on but impossibile Ati textures are horrible and everything works very slow! I thank you for the wrapper will wait a bit now will test this on an Nvidia computer of my friend and I hope they work better! then ATI : RED =(

would you be able to do this: secondary click Metro 2033 > Show package contents > Wineskin Settings > Advanced > Wineskin Tools > Run Registry Editor > HKEY_Current_User > Software > Wine > Click on Direct3D > Secondary click on an empty space in the right panel (where it says DirectDrawRenderer and that stuff) > New > String Value > Change the name to Multisampling > Double click it > Type in enabled > Click OK and then close the Registry Editor and try the game. Go into options > video > enable Multisampling Anti-aliasing and try the game (might need to close the game and open it again. double check MSAA is on in game and see if problems persist)
also dont forget to put all the settings to its lowest possible, or use the config i posted in the first post.
thanks :)
thats strange i have the same graphics card as Bert93 and i get a wineskin error on the first intro vid... but then i hit enter and the vids run. it then gets stuck on the last vid and i can't access the menu.
here are my logs...
File name: Metro 2033 Wine Logs.zip File size: 8.16 KB

Thanks for your help @playn but I did not understand the last process could create the file and upload it somewhere then see if it works!... Anyway I put the textures to a minimum, I also believe that it works slow why Antialiasing the minimum is at 4x! you can play without it! Thanks again!

edit: actually, download this file, unzip it (double click) and go to registry editor in wineskin settings (as detailed above), click file > import and choose the .reg file. after that, start the game and enable antialiasing in options > video
also in this post, are you talking about NVIDIA or on your ATI? thanks :)
i believe that the major slowness on your ATI is due to the weak graphics card. on windows you'll average less then 20fps anyway unfortunately :/
also a tip. for slight better performance in game, change the in game resolution to something else, and then change it back to what it was (1280x800 by default) the game will run fair smooth then. especially on the main menu

you could try installing through winetricks:
- d3dx9_36
- d3dx9_28
and give it a go
im not sure why your getting problems, it works for everyone else :( unless Bert93 did something different to get it loaded up?
where exactly does it get stuck at?
