Battlefield: Bad Company 2, is the sequel to Battlefield Bad Company. In this instalment, the Bad Company crew again find themselves in the heart of the action, where they must use every weapon and vehicle at their disposal to survive. The action unfolds with unprecedented intensity, introducing a level of fervor to vehicular warfare never before experienced in a modern warfare action game. In Battlefield: Bad Company 2, the company fight their way through snowy mountaintops, dense jungles and dusty villages. With a heavy arsenal of deadly weapons and a slew of vehicles to aid them, the crew set off on their mission and they are ready to blow up, shoot down, blast through, wipe out and utterly destroy anything that gets in their way. Total destruction is the name of the game, delivered as only the DICE next generation Frostbite engine can.

Description:
Release: 2010
Genre: FPS (First Person Shooter)
Developer: EA Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Platform: MAC (Intel)

1. Port Info:
Two versions - Cider 4983 & Cider 5019 - with seems the same performance.

2. Minimum System Requirements:
Mac OS X 10.6.3
Intel Core 2 Duo 2,4 GHz
1024 MB RAM
256 MB VRAM
4,5 GB HDD free space

3. Known Issues:
Both versions were successfully tested on Intel iMac 2.4 GHz, ATI HD2600 256 MB, 4GB RAM, OS X 10.6.5 - about 15-20 FPS in 1920x1200 LOW. (I've tested four missions: Operation Aurora, Cold War, Heart of Darkness, Upriver - saves included.)

Minor bugs:

- no sound in logo movie and some ingame intros (interactive cutscenes are OK)
- subtitles are not always in sync with speech

It seems that the game won't work properly under Mac OS X 10.5.8 (there were complaints from some 10.5.8 users that it crash/hang on 'New Game').

Probably the game won't work with 128 MB graphics cards - below official minimum PC specifications.

NOTE:
There is an 'Exception raised' warning while starting 5019 version - ignore it - I know how eliminate this bug but leave it intentionally for testing possible fix for those users.

4. Installation:
Check ReadMe file for instructions.
WAIT ON START!!! The game is loading for about 1,5 minutes (mute black screen).

File 1: Battlefield Bad Company 2 (Cider) (4983) (wrapper) (33,28 MB):

File 2: Battlefield Bad Company 2 (Cider) (5019) (wrapper) (29,72 MB):

The full English version was uploaded to Demonoid and Rutracker:

Cider 4004 seems not suitable for this game - I was not able to eliminate all graphics bugs for it.

Please report your results - the game is nearly rock-solid on my Mac - no crashes on the level loading or while resolution/quality switching, seems no visible graphics bugs (and no DX bugs in the Terminal log!) - but it crashes for some testers (most are still on 10.5.8) on the first level loading (New Game) - I'd like to get some statistics.
Very nice  :Yahoo!:
I will let you know how it runs.
Has anyone if tried the Multiplayer is working?
I'll post my nvidia result in about an hour and a half
Edit: for some reason megaupload is being slow as ever...post result when can
It's really good.  Perfect here on 800x500.  Just that unhandled exception upon quitting.
dang looks amazing.  ill try to get it off rutracker!!!
Pluto999 et al, would anyone want a mirror on the PortingNetwork seedbox/tracker?
btw did you try installing all of directx9 as the sound is not only not in the intro vid but in all the vids...

other then that good port!  gameplay is great!!!
sound in intro works perfect for me.
which wrapper are you using?
Macbook Pro 5,1
2.53GHz
4GB RAM
Nvidia 9400M/9600M w/ 512MB
320GB HD

I cannot get the game to start. It appears in the dock for about 2 seconds, and then disappears. Any ideas or fixes?
What is in the Terminal log? (Launch the game from inside app with 'cider'.)

And it seems that the game won't work properly under 10.5.8 (many complaints from 10.5.8 users).

Mediafire links are added.

It seems so - there are no DirectX bugs at all reported in the Terminal log so the game graphics should be correct.

RazorPro said:

This 'Unhandled exception' happens in both 4983 and 5019 versions but the warning message is suppressed in 4983 version where debugger starts automatically without request. (As far as I can understand from 4983 log there should be "winedbg -auto" set somewhere - can anybody comment?).

Really 'Unhandled exception' error and the warning in 5019 version appear while the game is starting, it just stay onscreen till the end - launch the game from Terminal and switch to window mode and you'll see it in a minute in the Terminal log:

- wine: Unhandled exception, starting debugger...

I suspect that it is deal with punkbuster as the next line in the 4983 log is:

- err:dbghelp:pe_load_debug_info loading debug information failed for module '"pnkbstra"'

Anyway it does not influence the game as the second wine game process starts then.

The system32 folder is already stripped from extra DX DLLs but as far as I remember it was the same with full DirectX installation - there was no sound in intro video (EA-DICE-Frostbite-Dolby) or maybe two intro videos (EA-DICE-Frostbite and Dolby) as there are two corresponding lines for intro video (videos?) in the Terminal log:

err:wave_audiodevice:audio_device_set_buffer_size device 266 failed to set buffer size (0x6e6f7065)
err:wave_audiodevice:audio_device_set_buffer_size device 264 failed to set buffer size (0x6e6f7065)

and in intro video before second mission (Cold War), don't remember further. Other than that I have sound in the game and all interactive cutscenes. (I've tested four missions only: Operation Aurora, Cold War, Heart of Darkness, Upriver.)

By the way there was sound in intro video (EA-DICE-Frostbite-Dolby) in this BFBC2 Wineskin version:

http://portingteam.c...edirect.php?htt ... ?t=3345066

[Intel] Battlefield: Bad Company 2 [WineSkin Port by LCANT]

but then there was no sound at all in the game itself (and also graphics bugs and buggy mouse (limited rotation)).
What are the news about 'native' Battlefield: Bad Company 2 version? There were rumours last year:

Battlefield Bad Company 2 Mac Version In Consideration

Have not seen any new info since that.
Sorry, forgot to add that im running 10.6.6

Also, I havent found any new news on the Bad company 2 on mac thing either, it was first mentioned last march I think, and that was it. However, If I were to guess, If its coming out at all, it will either be very close to Portal 2 (idk why, just a feeling) or not till later in the year, if at all. They could also be tricking us and they actually made BF3 OSX compatible but not BC2...o.O , my dream come true.

Should be interesting to see what starts to come out this year for OSX. Games take on average about 4 years to develop (except the COD games after COD4, they appear to be the spawn of 10 months of casual labor while getting baked), so that means that A) games have been in the tube for a while and are gonna start coming out, or the more unfortunate option, B) its another 3 years before any significant number start coming out.
Thanks for info - any bug reports are useful.

What version are you running - 4983 or 5019?

Here are my logs for comparison:

Maybe your rld.dll is a problem? My rld.dll is 101,376 bytes in size and of Feb 27, 2010.

Probably something is wrong  with your game version or crack. I'm uploading my full version to Demonoid now so you'll be able to test it.
