The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (commonly referred to as Oblivion) is an action role-playing open world video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks and the Take-Two Interactive subsidiary 2K Games. It is the fourth installment in The Elder Scrolls action fantasy video game series, following The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.
Oblivion was first released in March 2006 for Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360. A PlayStation 3 (PS3) version shipped in March 2007 in North America, and in April 2007 in Europe and Australia. After a number of smaller content releases, a major expansion pack—Shivering Isles—was released. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition—a package including both Shivering Isles and the official plug-in Knights of the Nine—was released in September 2007 for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3, and on Steam in June 2009. A fifth anniversary edition was released in North America in July 2011 and in Australia in September 2011. Versions for other regions have been confirmed, although release details are unannounced.
THE ELDER SCROLLS IV - OBLIVION GOTY.
So, why, Another Oblivion wrapper?
Yes, but this one is a bit different.
It supports STEAM version of Oblivion GOTY as well as the normal version!
It also supports antialiasing and it's built on the newer Dragon Age 2 Cider version.
I've also heard people are complaining about the performance on the other wrappers,
this wrapper runs pretty damn fast on my machine.
System Requirements
OS: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
RAM: 2GB
Video: nVidia 7xxx, 8xxx or 9xxx Series or ATI / AMD 3xxx, 4xxx or 5xxx Series Video Card
Compatibility with Intel GMA Series Video Cards has not been tested.
Issues:
- HDR lightning does make everything black, turn it off!
Thanks to Zoroaster:
Media:
Recorded on my mac, no random video from the internet! (recorden on my MacBookPro 2010)

Why no HDR? It works in Wineskin.

Maybe I'll find a way to enable it, but for now I recommend keeping it off.
8xAA and bloom is quite nice anyways, I'm downloading a 1.7GB texture pack atm!
I'm looking forwards to test it out!
Edit again: I fould out that Oblivion itself doesn't support HDR+AA, unless you force 3.0 shaders and do some workarounds in config, more about this later!
Hey Cluthz, thanks for this wrapper!
I've been using Nightblaze's cider wrapper, and I had Oblivion and the huge mod Morroblivion running pretty good.
I tried yours, and for some reason it is SUPER laggy for me. Even the beginning sequence for a new game lags. I can't even walk around a town, that's how bad it is.
So did I do something wrong? I'll try deactivating Morroblivion and run around in stock Oblivion and see how that goes.
Also, I'm on Mac OS X Lion.
Thanks!

Hmm strange, it runs pretty damn nice here.
If you see from the movie, it runs pretty good even with recording with antialiasing and such.
I haven't modded mine much, except qalrs texture pack and some ui improvements.
I haven't got Lion yet, so there could perhaps be an issue.
Ok, I did a fresh reinstall of the wrapper and a stock Oblivion from DVD. Now, it doesn't work at all. Starting a new game crashes after the Uriel cutscene and loading a save crashes half way into loading.
I made sure HDR was off before I started a new game or loaded a save.
I'm on a Macbook Air 11", late 2010 if that helps.
I'm guessing Lion is the culprit. Do you plan on upgrading to Lion?
Anyways, I liked the video! Looks very smooth. Is that with the texture pack? Also, what kind of recording app did you use?

I used an app called ScreenFlow and no, the video was taken before I modded
I ordered a MacBook Air myself a week ago, so I guess I have it within a few days. It will get shipped with Lion ofc, so I'll try it out there. I plan to keep 10.6 for at least a few more months on my main computer tho, since I have much apps and hardware which I really need working 100% and I don't dare to upgrade yet.
I'm guessing you're getting the 2010 Macbook Air 13"?
Yeah, if you could let me know when you've tested Oblivion on it, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Nah, I'm getting a 2011 13 inch
So you're going to be stuck with the Intel graphics?
Well, it's probably as good as the previous MBA's graphics, plus it has a way better processor.

Yeah, I'm not gonna use a MBA for gaming: My desktop was already putting my 2010 MBP 15 inch to shame. 3DMark06 scoring 18k+ while the MBP 5.5k, gaming on a MBA isn't really an option for me :)
Dang, so how's that beast on Geekbench?
Yeah, I'm thinking of getting an older Mac Pro off Ebay for cheap, because the Macbook Air doesn't cut it.
I have a question though -- I know we're getting way off topic, but what the heck -- is there a substantial difference between 4GB of DDR2 vs 4GB of DDR3? The older Mac Pro's DDR2 is at 667MHz while the newer Mac Pro's DDR3 is at 1066MHz.
I ask because I might be able to get a Mac Pro for like $500 bucks, but it's the first Intel one that came out in 2006. I still think it would be way better than my Macbook Air, plus I can upgrade the graphics card and ram, and even the processors with a little courage.
Also, other things bugging me is the EFI 32-bit, 32-bit kernel, and the slower system bus. Again, these are just specs. Will I even notice a difference in real life usage, if at most I'm gaming, maybe some iPhoto of iMovie?

Just tried it on my MBA 2011 with Lion 10.7.1 and it runs, it's playable but the FPS is like 10-15 fps, sometimes lower. Comparing to NWN2 which is made with the same framework it seems that the Oblivion port is quite a bit slower. Nvidia 320M should be faster tho, unless there is something driver related problems.
I guess that games that run smooth on a GTX285 doesn't always run smooth on Intel HD. Unfortunately I only have those two to test on, the 285 which one of the fastest cards (for mac) you can get a hand on and Intel HD which isn't intended for anything else than flash games and itunes..
Thanks for the update Cluthz. I guess I'll have to keep trying on my end.
As I wrote in the Oblivion-GOTY Topic from Nightblaze, I'm working on Lion 10.7.1 and it runs perfectly for me now, with one minor Mod installed and mid-Settings on 1280x Resolution. But without Bloom and Anti Aliasing.
I'am using a Macbook Pro 2011 with Intel HD Graphics. Until now I can't relate directly to the FPS Problems for Intel Chips, because everything works as it should. The greatest Performance treats are the view Distance and Bloom I think. Maybe regulating both will help increasing the FPS on Intel Systems.
Just wanted to give a short note here, so it's less confusing reading about this topic in another topic ;)
