Can you use cheat codes?
Has anyone tried the restored content patch?
Step by step guide. 1. Download the wrapper. 2. Open the downloaded .dmg file and transfer the folder called SWKotOR to your computer desktop or applications folder. 3. Open the folder and double click on the file Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II. 4. Insert disk 1 of the Sith Lords into drive. 5. When asked to select installer choose the file Setup.exe on the disk. 6. Run the installer changing disks when it asks. 7. Go to the LucasArts website and find and download the patch files KOTOR 2 1.0a patch & KOTOR 2 1.0b patch. 8. Unzip the two patch files to reveal the .exe files contained therein. 9. Go to the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II game wrapper file that should now have the game installed in it and right click>show package contents. 10. Open Wineskin and click on Install Windows Software, select the KOTOR 2 1.0a patch .exe file and install it. 11. Repeat stages 9 and 10 for the KOTOR 2 1.0b patch, when asked to select the launcher file select swkotor2.exe. 12. Once installation is finished go to gamecopyworld and search for "sith lords", download the no CD crack for your version of the game (US, UK whatever). 13. Open the .rar file with Stuffit Expander or some other program that handles .rar files. 14. Go to the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II wrapper file and right click> show package contents, go to Drive C>Program Files>Lucasarts>SWKotOR2 and replace the file swkotor2.exe with the one you downloaded from gamecopy world. Also insert the files Cracktro.exe and carb06.nfo in the folder if they came with your crack rar. 15. You can now transfer any mod files you want to use in the folder called Override, if the mod uses an .exe installer, just open Wineskin after Show Package Contents of the wrapper, click on Install Windows Software and select the mod .exe file and the correct install path (hint: it's the SWKotOR2  folder in Drive C). 12. Close the window, double click on the wrapper to play the game, no disk needed.

This works fine on my MacBook running OSX 10.8 (which I used to install the game) and my iMac running OS X10.6.8 which I copied the folder over to. The only bug I seem to have encountered is that most of the costumes (in the cut scenes only) and droids (everywhere) seem to have flashing white polygons all over them constantly on my iMac.

EDIT: So far I don't get the graphical glitches when using this on my MacBook with NVidia 9400M graphics but I do get some pretty bad glitches on my iMac with ATI X1600 card. I guess either the iMac isn't powerful enough to run the game properly or the graphics card might be incompatible with the version of wine used in the wrapper. I don't know anything much about programming or the inner workings of computers in general so if anyone has any ideas on how to fix the graphics glitches then please let me know. I tried changing the wine engine used by the wrapper by installing different wine engines using wineskin winery and then changing the engine using wineskin in the wrapper. This didn't help too much but didn't exactly break the game either.

I'm trying the game with the new restored content patch 1.8 now, I'll let you know how it goes. There's nothing to show that the mod actually installed however but all the files seemed to have gone in the right Override and Modules folders. I just have to take it on faith that I'm playing the restored content.

EDIT: The restored content must have installed fine as, judging by the changes described on the download site, they are present in the game. Seems to work perfectly well.
Has anyone succesfully used this port running mountain lion? I seem to be having much difficulty
I installed this on a MacBook running Mountain Lion, it works fine. I did find that I had to go into System Preferences>Security & Privacy then click on the General tab. Here you need to click on the setting under Allow applications downloaded from: Anywhere. If you don't do this the wrapper will just bounce in the dock or quit when you try and start the game. You do still get a few crashes on startup or when the game switches between a cut scene and the game but nothing too major, usually you just need to try again. Make sure you save game often when playing.
This game is now on Steam if anyone wants to try that.

Edit: All right, I got the Steam version working. I'm having trouble getting the restored content mod 1.8 working with it, though. Any tips?

RE: The restored content mod. I got it installed by Right Click on the wrapper with game installed>Show package contents>Wineskin>Install Windows Software>Select path to the restored content mod .exe file. NOTE: you must change the install location to drive_c>Program Files>LucasArts>SWKotOR2. The default install location for the restored content is a folder drive_c>PROGRAMMES>LucasArts>SWKotOR2 which creates all the folders and installs all the restored content in the wrong location in Wineskin's drive_c.

Having now played this game through for the first time, with the restored content too, I have to say that in my opinion this game does not compare to the original KotOR in terms of plot, characters, or locations (many of which are drab grey interiors). The game alternates between boring convoluted conversations and grind-like combat sections. The droid factory, which is part of the restored content, is a particularly dull and frustrating trudge. It's great that the modding community were able to rescue the content and fix most of bugs of the originally hastily released game but I can see why this is still one of the lesser known Star Wars games. I'd give it a 2.5 out of 5.

Yeah, I've got the mod working now. This is like my eigth time playing this game. I had it on my old computer back in like '06-'07-ish.  And I have the original Xbox version for my 360 (it runs terribly on it, which is why it was worth the repurchase). Actually, this is one of my all-time top five games. I think the writing is fantastic. Kreia is probably both my favorite character in games and in the Star Wars universe. It was written by Chris Avellone, who is a legend in terms of video game writing (Planescape Torment, Fallout 2, pieces of Fallout: New Vegas, among others). I love the take on the Force in KotOR 2, which tries to avoid the silly black and white morality Star Wars usually has. And the dialogue is pretty fantastic as well. Your character's dialogue isn't idiotic and bland like it is in most RPGs from the original KotOR and on. You can have a verbal battle with Atris the first time you meet, which can have some really satisfying results.
I followed the instructions, but when I try to open the game, the icon appears in my dock, but then it closes after a few seconds. Anyone have any ideas?
