The series makes its way back to its West Coast roots in Obsidian's upcoming postapocalyptic role-playing game. There will definitely be gambling in Fallout: New Vegas. Whether or not the other wonders of Las Vegas--like buffets--will be included remains to be seen, but for now, we were assured that once you make your way to the strip, there will be a variety of ways to give up your hard-earned cash. At the Bethesda Gamers Day held in Las Vegas, Obsidian presented an hour-long demo of its upcoming role-playing game set in the dry and desolate Mojave Wasteland. Several members of the development team came from Black Isle Studios--the creators of Fallout and Fallout 2--so the game's story and setting will likely feel more familiar to those who had played the first two games.

Personal Notes:
- Only tested with SKiDROW release
- Update 7 Recommended
- DLC is working Fine
- Includes FOMM. Open the Wrapper and Run FOMM.app

Quote

If you have 2 or more cores, do the following:
1) Open ~/Documents/My Games/FalloutNV/FALLOUT.INI
2) Find bUseThreadedAI=0 and change it to bUseThreadedAI=1
3) Add iNumHWThreads=2 after bUseThreadedAI=1
4) Save file

Minimum System Requirements:
-OS: Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard / Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard / Mac OS X 10.7 Lion
- CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
- RAM: 2048 MB
- Video: nVidia 8xxx Series or AMD 4xxx Series Video Card recommended
- Apple's X11 must be installed
- 7.51GB Hard Drive Space required

Known Issues:
- Has Memory Leaks (known Wine bug) - Tried playing for 45 minutes - no crash
- Slow Performance on open areas - Set to low settings and no AF / AA
- Crashes when entering GoodSprings Store - looks fixed
- Randomly shows icon texture where it shouldn't. Goes away after a while.
- Choppy performance in some areas

Installation:
- drag and drop installation folder from Program Files or install using wineskin installer.
- After that run the included FalloutPreferences app to setup your graphics settings, but DO NOT run the game from the Launcher.
- DO NOT Install DirectX, or the VC Redistributable at the end of the installation, as it will result in very slow framerates.
- Install SKiDROW Update 3 after installation. It fixes many issues
- Open wineskin, go to Advanced > Tools > Wine Registry Editor. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Wine > Direct3D and set the key "VideoMemorySize" to the amount of Ram on your VIDEO card. (the preset is 256). This will stop the crashes.
- If you don't see the VideoMemorySize property in the registry editor you will need to add it yourselves.
Alternatively, you can Fn+Click the wrapper, go to Advanced > Tools > Winetricks expand settings and look for the videomemorysize presets, choose one that suits your card or set it to auto.

wow...beat me to it...will test when i get time
You have also beat me to it but hey nice job porting it quickly i WILL test throughly and say how it works as i am also using skidrow release
hehe never thought of it as a competition, I just saw that you guys were having trouble with the game engine error and thought i'd lend a hand.

I just finished testing it and went through the whole character setup on Ultra High settings (looks great). I had a good framerate while inside the doctor's house, and got excited. Then I stepped out of the house. And decided i should lower that to - maybe - medium or low. I bet there was a setting that would use more than one cpu cores somewhere but i just can't find it...

I also haven't had the chance to check VATS yet.
Hello.

Congrats you fast bastard :)
I just tried it. On my Mac Pro Late 2010 (8-core 12 gb ram) with ATI Radeon HD 5770 the game is unplayable slow in lowest graphics...
Did I configure something wrong? How is that possible?

Regards
was it slow even when indoors or only when going outside?
ok so it works great so far but havent tested actual gameplay i used auto-detect for settings i used the same settings in Fallout 3 so should work fine.

SO EXCITED CAN'T WAIT TO TRY IT TOMORROW

P.S
would try today but don't have any time got some work to do
hats off to you.
This works great just like Fallout 3 and it works fine leaving the doctors office. Now i wonder if this works with DankoB's improved wrapper for Fallout 3
Can't wait to give this a try.  Does the background music work in this release?
haven't been able to test radio yet so i dont know
Good job works a treat so far haven't run it extensively curious to see if that 30min crash happens with this as it did with FO 3.
How did you get past the unable to launch renderer crash?

Crash after 30mins or so of play, same issues as the other FO 3 wrappers I've made and used that others have made.
i looked through the wrapper a bit it seems that the launcher simply doesn't work with wine but launching the game directly works fine
in the office the performance was excellent. the graphics also. but when i head outside, into wasteland, the game is nearly unplayable slow...
you guys dont have this problem?
Sounds like F3, I'm updating the F3 wrapper and will hopefully have it up tonight if all goes well. Maybe the new F3 wrapper will help with FNV.

hmm. do you think it's an ATI graphics card issue?

also i recognized another issue... the games starts in a black fullscreen but only 1/3 of it is used by the game. so i have a fullscreen black screen with 1/3 game screen.

and really, incredibly slow. like stop-motion.

hope you guys know what to do!

regards
