Game Description:
Ys Origin (イース・オリジン, Īsu Orijin) is a Japanese Action RPG released in 2006 for Microsoft Windows by Nihon Falcom. It is the seventh game in the Ys series but as a prequel, it is the first in terms of chronology. It is the first game in the series not to revolve around the adventures of Adol Christin.

Plot:
Taking place 700 years before the events of "Ancient Ys Vanished" (Ys I & II), this game tells much of the back-story of Ys, Darm Tower, the Black Pearl, the twin goddesses and the six priests. The game revolves around three characters as they journey through Darm Tower: Yunica Tovah, Hugo Fact and Thor Fact . Each character has their own motives for climbing the tower and playing through with all three characters will reveal the entirety of the events taking place.
Port Info:
Added English Port - Port is with CiderX Cider 5313. Cd check has been compromised (if you mount the mini iso) but nothing has been ripped. Patched to version 1.1 - Extra Disc Installer added.
Minimum System Requirements:
- OS: Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11 Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard / Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard / Mac OS X 10.7 Lion
- CPU: Intel Core Processor
- RAM: 512mb
- Video: nVidia 8xxx Series or AMD 3xxx or 4xxx Series Video Card recommended
- about 2 gigs of hard drive space
Known Issues:
Controllers not tested. Game has not been tested with Macs with GMA 950 chipsets, though it is likely to work. Intro video does not work.

Install the game into the Wrapper, and install English patch.

To each his own - runs at 60 frames a second on my Mac. However Wineskin works fine I am sure.
Couldn't get the game to run using this port. I have the Steam english version. Even with a cracked exe, the game doesn't run at all.
I could only get to the title screen using PlayOnMac (with the unmodified exe, in the same bottle as Steam).
I tried different versions of Wine and none of them can run the game, it seems.

It doesn't work with my version of CrossOver (10.1) either.

I finally got the Steam version working in CrossOver games.
How I did it:
- Downloaded the game in Steam in another bottle (dedicated to Steam)
- Downloaded a cracked exe for the Steam version of the game
- Created a bottle for the game using the CrossTie on Codeweaver's website: http://www.codeweave...me/?app_id=5531 . I skipped the game installation part in the process.
- I copied the game folder from the Steam bottle to the Ys Origin bottle and replaced the exe with the one I've downloaded in Step 2
- Launched the exe with the Launch program command in COG.
As stated in the port's description, intro video doesn't work.
