Game Description:
Final Fantasy VIII (ファイナルファンタジーVIII, Fainaru Fantajī Eito) is a role-playing video game released for the PlayStation in 1999 and for Windows-based personal computers in 2000. It was developed and published by Square (now Square Enix) as the Final Fantasy series' eighth title, removing magic point-based spell-casting and the first title to consistently use realistically proportioned characters.
Personal Notes:
Never huge fan of this game, but I wanted to give it another chance.
Plot:
The game's story focuses on a group of young mercenaries who are drawn into an international conflict, and seek to protect the world from a sorceress manipulating the war for her own purposes. The main protagonist is Squall Leonhart, a 17-year-old reclusive loner and student at the military academy Balamb Garden, who is training to become a "SeeD", a mercenary paid by the academy.

- OS: Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard / Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Report of Lion working - Added 10.8 support
- CPU: Intel Core Processor
- RAM: 1024MB
- Video: nVidia 8xxx Series or AMD 3xxx or 4xxx Series Video Card recommended
- about 2.40 gigs of Hard Drive Space required
Known Issues:
- Occasional Graphic Glitches - you MUST turn off high res fonts in the config setting or it will crash at train section
Installation:
Combine Both Parts - Copy the game into the Final Fantasy VIII folder - apply the patch.

I'm trying to use an Italian version of FF8 but your PATCH of FF8.exe doesn't recognize the Data folder, can you explain how can i mod the ff8.exe italians file as your ff8.exe english file?
Or may I send you my FF8.exe file?
This game was ripped by the original version of Final Fantasy 8 for PC.
I've a new MacbookAir with Lion 10.7.3
With the english DATA folder it works well, just some graphic problems

This port does not work with Lion.

It seems that this doesn't work for me. I downloaded the .000 and .001 files, tried to unrar them, and I keep getting a "cannot unrar" error. Using an app to combine the two files produced the DMG file, but mounting said DMG resulted in an Illegal Seek error.
@ Christopher - Links fixed - also @Andre this is reported working with Lion - and the Wineskin one links are also provided.
