In the future, Earth’s appetite for resources has become a major motivator for deep space exploration. Immense, privately-owned and operated mining ships called “planetcrackers” orbit planets and use sophisticated equipment to carve out entire city-sized chunks of rock, and reduce them to component elements and raw ore.
When an immense mining ship, the USG Ishimura, comes into contact with a mysterious alien artifact in a remote star system, its communications with Earth are mysteriously cut off. Engineer Isaac Clarke is sent to repair the Ishimura’s communications array, but he arrives to find a living nightmare—the ship is a floating bloodbath, the crew unspeakably mutilated and infected by an ancient alien scourge.
Clarke’s repair mission becomes one of survival as he fights not just to save himself, but to return the artifact to the planet … at any cost.
Personal Notes:
-Works great on my MBA with the high details (except for AA and shadows)
-Finished the game, crashed only for once at the end of chapter 8 which didn't occur again.
-Turn V-Sync off, it causes mouse lags.
-I'm using retail version
-It's Wineskin 2.5.3 because mouse doesn't work on 2.5.4
-Thanks to Wolfangraul for his icon -http://wolfangraul.deviantart.com-
My System Specs:
- OS: OS X 10.7.3
- CPU: Intel Core i5 1.6GHZ
- RAM: 2GB
- Video: Intel HD 3000 288MB
- Disk Space: 8.16GB
Gameplay:
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/rUrzZrfhS2w" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Known Issues:
-Some of the ingame text decorations are missing, this is due to a bug in Wine according to WineHQ.
-Mouse doesn't work in the game menu, use your keyboard instead.
-Sometimes upon opening the game, mouse doesn't work. You have to quit and re-open the game. (Not sure what causes this)
-In chapter five, you go under a meteor shower but game doesn't draw meteors so you have to listen the sounds whether if it stopped raining or not. (The place in the screenshot)
-Also some fire effects are not drawn by the game.

An example of missing texts, as you compare it with the Xbox version, inventory is not fully showing up in mine. Same thing happens at upgrade benches as well.
Installation:
-Right click the wrapper, choose "Show Package Contents" and open up Wineskin. Choose "Install Windows Software" and select your setup data.
-After it finishes, open up your game (apply your "things" before opening up of course)
-After you change the resolution, game will be cropped in the screen so quit your game to fix this issue, then open it up again.

Try using my Dead Space 2 Port On Dead Space 1 it fixs the crashes and mouse stuff i remember i had that problem before but i ported the game in a older version wine though so i don't know but worth maybe looking into
but hey don't have it for mac on meh steam.. and i have no money
Gameplay video is coming up
Hey it runs well on my older MBP early 2008, but I have one serious issue - I play with Apple Magic Mouse and to fire a weapon i have to aim with right clock and fire with left...thats impossible with "one button" mouse (yes I have it in 2 buttons mode) but when you aim right click you can't fire left click anymore...and when i try to change controls, I can but the changes doesn't save, I can't precc accept button only escape from controls setup and that doesn't save them...is there any way how to change controls in game or some config file? Or do I have to buy cheap Logitech crap mouse with 2 real buttons?
Thanks
Thanks
Same problem happens with graphic settings as well but when you press enter when indicator is on "shader" settings for example, it accepts and goes back. But there's no such thing in keyboard settings, every enter you press requires you to define a new button. So yes, you have to buy a cheap Logitech mouse, such as this one.
Edit: Wine 1.4 Engine released, let's wait for doh123 to make an installer. Let's see how that one will work.

Awww...
thats horrible but thanks a lot for fast reply. Bad news are I can't play DS now till I get cheap mouse hehe...its a shame that menus for setup aren't working, so far game runs really well just this "flaw" annoyed me
It was made considered as the mouse works on main menu but unfortunetaly on Wine, it does not.
Uploaded a short gameplay video, youtube still processes it though.

can someone please just tell me what to do in english, i can tell you the weapon history of Vietnam but when it comes to ports im shit for brains
Well 1st download this port. Its something like engine/starter for the windows game right?
2nd get a real copy of windows game, your choose how...
Right click on downloaded port--->show package content, there is wineskin. Run it, click install windows software and choose setup.exe or deadspace.exe file from the windows game for installation of the game...when finished, go out of the port and run it to play...
Thats the basics I suppose. Some ports need no CD patch and a lot of complicated doodling, some are easy and smooth

so, just curious, where would i happen to find just the start up exe. for the game? or can i just use a crack?
Inside the game disc of course, or if you don't have disc drive like me, use Toast Titanium to mount your .iso file. Or just open the .iso, copy the contents into a folder and do it like that.
And... i've just finished the game.

What do you mean by "go to DS"? DS = Dead Space (the game itself)?

Yes when I start up Dead Space, no matter what mouse i now plug in, either when I load saved game or start a new one, as long as I touch mouse its spinning around chaotically and can't even point myself to walk anywhere to aim weapons :-( It was working well after installation for 2 days though
Edit: Suddenly its working just fine now. So I don't know. But after I finished chapter 1 and entered the train, game crashed. Going to try again hope its not a permanent bug there
