Download WIP Port Star Wars: The Old Republic 0.5.1 beta

Star Wars: The Old Republic, abbreviated as TOR or SWTOR, is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game based in the Star Wars universe. Developed by BioWare Austin and a supplemental team at BioWare Edmonton, the game was first announced on October 21, 2008, at an invitation-only press event. The video game was released for the Microsoft Windows platform on December 20, 2011 in North America and part of Europe. Early access to the game began one week before release, on December 13, 2011, for those who had pre-ordered the game online; access opened in "waves" based on pre-order date.
Although BioWare has not disclosed development costs, industry leaders and financial analysts have estimated it to be between $150 million and $200 million. If accurate, this would make it the most expensive video game ever developed. The game had 1 million subscribers within three days of its launch, making it the world's 'Fastest-Growing MMO Ever', compared with rivals such as World of Warcraft.

IMPORTANT:
The game currently crashes when you hit play. This is not caused by the wrapper, and cannot be currently fixed.

Personal Notes:
Finally the bugfix was discovered for bug ( wine bug: 29168 ), which prevented to show server list. I have patched the wine1.4 with the bugfix (more hackfix), and now the game works correctly. Screenshots : [1] [2] [3] [4]

Game is partially playable on low medium details (AA off, Shadows off) on my computer (see system specs), except the slow loading. Seems to be completely broken since 1.3.X

However, because of the bug, it is good only for crafting and space flighting.

Disclaimer
This port is provided as is, do NOT expect support from EA/Bioware if you are using this port. I am not responsible for any damage this port can do to your computer, game account or environment.

Current Status:
Broken (thanks bioware/heroengine for changes which made this completely unplayable)

My System Specs:
- OS:    Mac OS X 10.7.3
- CPU: Core I7 2,2Ghz
- RAM: 8GB
- Video:   AMD Radeon 6750M

Minimum Requirements:
- OS:    Mac OS X 10.6+
- CPU: Dual Core CPU
- RAM: 2GB
- VIDEO    more than 256MB (according to reports, the 256MB cards will run ot of memory and will freeze the game)
- Disk Space: 25GB

Known Issues:
Extreme loading times (depending on location, smaller location, faster times - Nar Shadaa takes about 15 minutes!!! to load) - caused by combination of bad swtor engine (should be fixed in future versions of swtor) and OS X memory mapping bug (feature)
Game does not quit correctly, when closed from ingame via Quit game, if it is closed by semaphore button in window mode, it will quit correctly..
Game seems to freeze when playing on nvidia on Snow Leopard (need someone else to confirm) - caused by 256MB GPU cards
The game currently crashes when you hit play. This is not caused by the wrapper, and cannot be currently fixed. The game used to work, but EA screwed it up. The wrapper is there in case the EA makes things right for once.

Installation:
1) If you dont have client files - just run the wrapper, official launcher is already preinstalled, just login and it will start to patch the client (will download about 25GB!)

2) If you already have downloaded files, just open the wrapper put them into "drive_c/Program Files/Electronic Arts/Bioware/Star Wars - The Old Republic" directory.

IMPORTANT:
The game currently crashes when you hit play. This is not caused by the wrapper, and cannot be currently fixed.

Probably not. I will recompile the Wine, and update the wrapper later (give me couple of hours).

Thanks a ton in advance.
I have encountered problems when compiling it for OS 10.6. Need to redownload few things (xcode mainly. I will post the 10.6 version tomorrow.
The 10.6 version is now available.

Now the only issue i see is the slow texture loading times.. unfortunetly it seems it is a problem with wine itself.

Nice, good work.

Kinda wish there was a free trial to do though, I don't want to subscribe without having tried it out to make sure I can run it on this computer and with the wrapper. I don't have a windows computer or copy of the OS to play it if it doesn't work.

Please try to download the wrapper and launch it if it works correctly under 10.6. If so, send me a PM with a mail address, i can provide you with 7 day time trial. (note for others, I have 3 invites total. one reserved for Red_Cow (he has Nvidia and 10.6, ideal for testing :). so thats two left, send me a PM and i will send you the trial key (1st come 1st serve)   sorry guys, the invites are not working. (unexpected error) i filed the ticket to EA, hope they will fix it soon...
Now i feel like idiot, apparently you must use Firefox (on windows!) to make the form work. So

2 invites remaining.

Pretty much runs fine outside of the known issues that you've already noted. Also it tends to freeze every so often at random times, but other than that it's great.

The freezes are complete, or just random hickups ? I played about hour and didnt notice any freeze (just some minor stuttering (major when speed traveling))

It only happened twice, once in the intro and another just while walking around. I think they're complete freezes, but I didn't wait an obscenely long time, could just be a long hiccup.

Quite possible it is nvidia specific (and related to the loading times), but I will check for sure. What class you were playing?
