Fallout is a role-playing game open world video game produced by Tim Cain, developed and published by Interplay in 1997. The game has a post-apocalyptic and retro-futuristic setting in the mid-22nd century, featuring an alternate history which deviates some time after World War II, where technology, politics and culture followed a different course.
The game is sometimes considered to be an unofficial sequel to the 1987 CRPG Wasteland, but it could not use that title as Electronic Arts held the rights to it; and, except for minor references, the games are set in separate universes. It was also intended to use Steve Jackson Games' GURPS system, but that deal fell through due to the excessive amounts of violence and gore included in the game, forcing Black Isle to change the already implemented GURPS system to the internally developed SPECIAL system.
Personal Notes:
Enjoy this one guys! It was a pain to port because of the (as it is known on the Internet) "rainbow lines" glitch.

This game doesn't feel like fallout, the way the recent games do....

One is a top-down RPG, the other is a first-person FPRPGS.
One is made by Interplay, the other by Bethesda.
Seriously, super different. The only thing in common is the name.
When I try to download from mediafire, I get a continuous "oops, there was a problem," and then it restarts. But it keeps giving the error. Is this just me?

I'm getting that too.
I just re-downloaded it. It worked perfect for me.
I'll re-up it anyway, though :/
I downloaded it a few hours ago and it worked perfectly for me, although there was no step six for me. I just took the Fallout.app that was downloaded and moved it into ~/Applications/ and it's been awesome since.

Thanks for this!

You're welcome!
I downloaded it, and i signed into steam, but whenever I try to install the game, it says "This game is not available for your current platform"
I am downloading it. It may be awesome.
Thanks for the work on this! I'm having an issue where the pointer has so much lag that the game isn't playable at all. I'm on a late 2010 MBP running 10.7 with an i7, 8GB of RAM, and a Radeon HD 6490M. Also, this is the GOG version if that helps any. Any ideas on what might be causing the lag?
NON1337H41, try setting your tracking speed to maximum (on the Mac system preferences under trackpad). That's what i did, and the pointer works much better.
Anyone have a current working link to the port?

Link still works. Even though it says "Sorry, Links Dead", it will forward you to http://www.mediafire...0jmsnin2mhptfw0 which, as far as I can tell, is still working. If you can't get it that way, let me know and I'll upload the Fallout.zip file some where else.
Just downloaded it. The mediafire link itself works properly. I'll test the GoG.com version as soon as the download and installation finish.
Every time I run the installer this window pops up (GOG version)

"No new executables found!

Maybe the installer failed...?"
