Sorry, Links Dead Dead Island 1.0

Dead Island is ported with WS8 Wine 1.3.29. (KGame note: it now runs on WS8 Wine 1.5.1)
Overall, the game runs pretty well on my Macbook on 1280x800, Medium textures but the frame rate tends to drop occasionally. I am using the RELOADED version of dead island with both RELOADED updates 1 and 2


Successfully Ported with wineskin with help from TehCAKE, a member of WineHQ.
The wrapper works 100% with no issues besides a bypass-able Freeze during the game on NVIDIA Graphics cards with versions 1.0 and 1.1, version 1.2 requires 'smart steam' which doesn't always work on Wine, feel free to try! i have the legit copy of this game so its pre-updates to 1.2  :D

This wineskin wrapper has no issues with shadows and SAVES WORK  :D

First Off, If you like the game, BUY IT
-Download the Wineskin Wrapper!
-Download RELOADED Updates 1 and 2 [no need for this if you have a retail copy]
-Right click the wrapper > Show Package contents > Wineskin.app
-Mount your .iso file
-in wineskin.app, select install new software and then select 'steambackup2.exe' inside the iso.
-When a new window appears, a small box will also appear. Scroll down until you see 'My Computer' and select the ( C: ) Drive and then select the program files folder and click 'Ok'. Music will begin to play and when its done installing, a message will pop up saying 'if you like the game, buy it.' click ok. (i'd recommend u buy it )
-Now go into the contents of the wrapper and install the crack inside the crack folder of the .ISO, making sure you DO NOT OVER-WRIGHT ANY FOLDERS. it is YOUR choice to install updates 1 and 2 from reloaded, i have installed updates 1 and 2 and the game works fine.
-LAST STAGE: go into wineskin.app again, then ADVANCED and you will see something that says Windows EXE and a white box next to it. place the following text in the white box, replacing the old EXE line:

/Program Files/dead island/DeadIslandGame.exe or click the browse button and locate the .EXE file.

Run the game!

Reloaded updates 1 and 2 can be installed into this wrapper very easily.
Update 1 is installed by placing the files into /Program Files/Dead Island/ (in here) but DO NOT REPLACE ANY FOLDERS, Instead, Place the contents of that folder into the other folder all ready inside the Dead Island folder. if there is another folder inside that folder, do the same process.

For update 2, which should be a .exe file, you need to go into the contents of the wrapper then /drive_c/Program Files/Dead Island and then right click and get info for every file within that folder. Scroll to the bottom of the 'info' window and make sure the file is set to read and write. DO THIS FOR EVERY FILE in the dead island folder, excluding the contents of other folders.

Now go back to the contents of the wrapper and open wineskin.app and click 'install new software' and select the UPDATE 2 .exe file. Go through the setup and then make sure the location of the install is:
C:/Program Files/Dead Island and if it asks you if you want to over wright it, click yes. when install is finished, you can play the game.

-Right click the .app -> Show Package Contents then open the Wineskin app.

-Click 'Advanced'

-Change the WINDOWS .exe to C:\Program Files\Steam\ (something like) Steam.exe

-Quit the Wineskin app

-Double click the Dead Island wrapper and steam will open.
-Sign Up or log in to your account.
-When steam loads up, go into 'Settings' on the 'steam' tab and then go to 'in game' and DISABLE 'steam community ingame' if you dont disable this, steam will crash and possibly not re-open.
-Click 'add game' in the libraries section
-Click activate product and enter your serial key. The game will then begin to download. The Installer doesn't seem to work on this wrapper as it crashes when trying to install vcredist_x86.exe... The only way seems to be by downloading the game. Sorry about this! Do the same procedure if you have bought the game online from your steam account.
-Once the game has done downloading, Click play and play the game. (If it doesn't save, look below for my save fix.)
-Every time you want to play the game, Just double click the wrapper and play the game through steam, allowing you to also play online and with Lan as well as installing DLC.
