Forgive me for being skeptical but.... using a Steam port would let you play Steam PC games on a mac?
Only if the game was playable using Wine in the first place. You won't be able to play that you weren't playable before, but the Steam Mac client won't let you download Windows games, so if you want the Windows version of a particualr game you bought this comes in handy.

For example, if I wanted to play Jade Empire (not sure why I would) I'd need to reboot my Mac to Windows since the Mac client doesn't let me download it.
huh anyone can do this form installing it in wine tricks..
Yeah.. i agree with blinx, this can simply be installed using winetricks. The thing is, not all games will work. Only cetain steam games such as half life, half life 2 and other all ready mac native games will work in your wrapper. For games like payday, fallout 3 and other ones, extra work needs to be carried out for the games themselves to work properly.

Isnt there a steam port all ready on this site anyway?
All the thoughts I had in mind...
Moved this to applications section...

Yes exactly. Let me know if it works
CS 1.6 does work.
But its not very stable, random crashing and stuff. too bad!
You should be able to get CS1.6 to work perfectly...Lots of information here to lead you in the right direction.

I've actually been thinking of putting it up myself.
SInce I so often port steam games I do get tons of questions how to download the games on mac.

I usually don't think it's a good idea to install games in a steam wrapper with other games, because steam force install things like dx9 and vcrun each time you install a game.
On windows it works, but in wine it can be a very bad idea.

it's great for downloading to use with other wrappers!

right click on the app, select show package contents, go to drive_c, and then program files, it should be in a folder called valve or steam (im not sure). hope this helped
