Download Wrapper Arx Libertatis (native) 1.1.1

- - - - - Please vote for the Quality of this Port / Wrapper, not for the Game or Application!

Arx Libertatis is a cross-platform, open source port of Arx Fatalis, a 2002 first-person role-playing game developed by Arkane Studios.
Arx Fatalis features crafting, melee and ranged combat, as well as a unique casting system where the player draws runes in real time to effect the desired spell.
The Arx Libertatis source code is based on the publicly released Arx Fatalis sources and available under the GPL 3+ license. This does however not include the game data, so you need to obtain a copy of the original Arx Fatalis or it's demo to play Arx Libertatis.

Personal Notes:
This is an unofficial native buid of Arx Libertatis based on the official source code. I compiled it in XCode and I added manually the files SDLMain.h and SDLMain.m in order for it to compile without errors. There ma or may not be issues with this build as it hasn't been fully tested outside my own Mac and I had to make manual changes, hence why this build is unofficial.

tested Game-Version: 1.1.1 release with game files from GoG.com
Genre: First-Person Dungeon Crawler RPG

My System Specs
- OS: Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion
- CPU: 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
- RAM: 4 GB
- Video:  NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB
- Port Disc Space: 840 MB

Known Issues:
- Z-fighting occurs on my machine; basically it means that the graphics card won't be sure which object is in front of which and they will be fighting over it. This mostly happens with clothing and walll decorations and the effect gets lesser the closer you approach. i don't know if this is limited to me or OS X in general.

This one is a bit different, since the main app is free and already built but you still need the game files.
- get all the files ending with .pak from your Arx Fatalis installation or CD and put them into the above folder "~/Library/Alpplication Support/ArxLibertatis"
More information on getting game files can be found on the Arx Libertatis Wiki.

About this port

I compiled the source code with XCode following these instructions:

Note that the list of libraries from macPorts is incomplete, you also need libdevil. If the compiler doesn't compile you also need to add the files SDLMain.h/.m to the project, both of which can be found by downloading SDL 1.x from the official website. This requirement will go away once the project transitions to SDL 2. the bundle was created simply by adding ".app" to the containing folder's name and constructiong the proper folder structure inside:
Arx Libertatis.app/

Mh looks nice I loved that game back in the day! However can't get it to run  I'm missing a .pak file. data.pak seems to be missing  I have data2.pak but the other one is missing! Some hlp would be greatly appreciated!
Just to make sure we are on the same line: I am only providing Arx Libertatis, the source port of Arx Fatalis, the game. Arx Fatalis is still a commercial game, you need to buy it. Once you have it, you need the file data.pak from Arx Fatalis and put it into Arx Libertatis. Also, very important, you need to patch Arx Fatalis with the latest patch to work with Arx Libertatis.

To sum up, Arx Libertatis (which I am providing) is need to run the game, but Arx Fatalis is what makes the game. If you don't have Arx Fatalis you can buy it cheaply and DRM-free from GoG.com

Next question is obviously how to get to a patched data.pak file? You need to install the game somehow and apply the patch, for example in on a Windows machiene or in a Windows Virtual machiene. The easiest and fasted way however would be to get Wineskin Winery, download any recent Wineskin engine (we just need the files it doesn't matter if the game runs), make a new wrapper and install Arx Fatalis into it. Install the patch as well, then go inside the wrapper's contents and find the data.pak file.
any idea how to keep this game up to date?

Download Arx Libertatis for Windows and replace the files in my wrapper with the new ones.
I've tried to install ArxLibertatis but I always get an error while I'm trying to run ArxLibertatis.app
I'm running 10.9 Mavericks and I've put the .pak files in
****'s Macbook/Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/ArxLibertatis (I've created the folder ArxLibertatis).
Got the .pak by installing Arx fatalis and it's 1.21 patch with "playonmac".

I've seen somewhere on the net that the folder "misc" was also needed to run the game. maybe that's the problem?

Hope that I've been clear enough that you guys can help me.

This is still an experimental WIP port, I'm currently waiting for the devs to transition to SDL2, then we can start thinking about official builds and ironing out all the Mac-related issues. I think your problem is that you are missing the dependencies, programming libraries needed by the application.
You can install them from MacPorts; first go to the official MacPorts site:
download and install MacPorts and then open the Terminal and copy-paste
sudo port install zlib freetype boost qt4-mac libsdl glew libdevil
(libdevil is needed asa well, the Wiki authors forgot about it) Don't be surprised if it takes a long time to install everything, that's because MacPorts doesn't simply download the libraries, it actually builds them right on your machine.
