This is a promotional project to show new comers how easy it is to download your favorite windows games without having to use any windows software. This application port is not meant to be used to launch any games. This is just a source to download windows games that would normally not be possible with the native Mac version of Steam. Once you have done so, follow the steps provided below to extract the game files to be used in other wrappers found at the porting team! Its easier than you think to get your favorite windows games running in Mac OS X!

Personal Notes:

I understand that there has been a previous port entry with this application, but due to the fact that the description is misleading (saying that you can use all community features and play any game in the wrapper), I had to submit this entry separately.

This application port should now support Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) as well. 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or higher is recommended however since most game wrappers require at least 10.6 or higher.

If you have Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion), you have to install XQuartz first before using this application port. X11 might also have to be installed as well.

If you have Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) or lower, XQuartz and X11 do not need to be installed. They should already be included with a default installation of the OS.

This is a freeware application. The purchase of games to be used with other wrappers is still required!

This application has been tested extensively for many hours doing the following:
Viewing the store page
Purchasing games (It is still recommended to purchase games using the official Steam for Mac application)
Doing overnight downloads (This is a very stable build. 12+ hours of downloading has been done with no crashes)

DO NOT LAUNCH GAMES USING THIS APPLICATION!
Although a few games may work out of the box using this application port, most will not work well. All games will benefit from being put in appropriate wrappers designed to launch these games. You can find all the game wrappers you need with instructions by viewing the port database on this website.

I updated Steam to the latest version so that updates should not be required on the user end. (As of July 27th, 2012)

- Video: AMD Radeon HD 6750m with 512 MB of vRAM
- Disk Space: 300 MB (Initial 70 MB download)


Known Issues:
-The interface can be finicky.

Disable all community features in the settings to ensure a stable experience. More information is in the instructions video below.


Installation:
Download, unzip, and launch!

Type in your log in information. Let the application update if needed. After the application launches and the IU displays, make sure you disable all community features. Messaging friends has been tested, but to avoid any crashes when downloading games, make sure these features are disabled.

After you downloaded a game completely, quit the application, and go to this directory inside:

(Right click on the app, Show Package Contents)

c_drive/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/

All of the games you download will go to this directory! Extract the game folder you downloaded, and put it in the correct file directory in the game wrapper you downloaded for that particular game. More instructions should be included at the individual port pages.

Most Steam games need to have a cracked EXE in order to be launched without the Steam Client. A variety of websites can provide you with the cracked EXE you need. (More info in the video below)
