Hit & Run has seven levels, each with missions and a unique plot. The player can only control one specific character in each level. The game's playable characters are Homer Simpson (played twice), Bart Simpson (played twice), Lisa Simpson, Marge Simpson, and Apu Nahasapeemapetilon. When traveling by foot, the player character can walk, run, and perform several attacks: a normal kick, a jumping kick, and a smashing move. To drive, the player can either commandeer one of the vehicles that litter the road, a feature taken from Grand Theft Auto III, or use a phone booth to select a car. The game's driving missions are also similar to those of Grand Theft Auto III. In both games, the player races against other characters, collects items before a timer runs out, and wrecks other cars.
The game has a sandbox-style format that emphasizes driving, and the player controls their character from a third-person view. The character can perform certain acts of violence, such as attacking pedestrians, blowing up vehicles, and destroying the environment. The Simpsons Hit & Run has a warning meter that indicates when the police will retaliate for bad behavior. Located in the bottom-right corner of the screen, the circular "hit and run" meter fills up when the character runs people over or destroys objects, and it will decrease when they cease doing so. When full, several police cars chase the character for the duration of the hit and run.
Each level contains items the player can collect, such as coins, which can be used to buy new cars and outfits that are required to progress through the game. The player can also collect wasps strapped with cameras and Itchy and Scratchy cards. By collecting all 49 of the latter, seven in each level, the player unlocks a special The Itchy & Scratchy Show video. Several events can cause the player to lose coins; because the character cannot die, injuries cause the player to lose coins. If the player is close enough to police cars for a certain period of time when being chased, they will be fined fifty coins.

Mac-ports have had some technical difficulties the last few days. A forwarding URL that looked for a page that didn't exist..
Everything should be fixed now.
Everything should be fixed now.
1: A few have reported back saying the wrapper has no buggs, fails, issues, problems..
2: Some have asked if its possible to play the game in widescreen resolution.
- Its an old game, so the game itself wont accept widescreen resolution gameplay, and the game wont change res even if you force a resolution through wineskin. The solution i use, is here. (read all posts)
To play widescreen res you have to edit the hex code inside simpsons.exe. i did this for my macbook (1280 x 800) and my mac mini (1920 x 1080) and works perfectly.

then move the gamefiles to the correct folder.
I have written the folder location both on this page, and in the text document that comes with the wrapper when you download.
but i can explain..
1. install the game with the installer app (link above). This creates a folder on your desktop called "installerdata".
2. after the game is installed, locate the folder "installer data", go to Drive c->program files and copy the folder with the game files for this game.. (folder name "simpsons". )
3. locate the wrapper you downloaded from this page, right click the app, press "show package contents"
4. in the new window that opens, go to "drive c"->"programfiles" and paste the "simpsons" folder you copied in 2.
5. Make sure the simpsons.exe is located here: Programfiles/Simpsons/Simpsons.exe
6. Launch the game and play
Hey Where i Can Download the Simsons hit and run

Wrapper DL link fixed.

Thanks!
I can't get this to work, I installed the game through the wineskin app and everything seems okay, all files seem to be in their correct folders. When I try to launch the game though I first see a black screen where the mouse has been replaced by a black cross, the screen then flashes and im left with a black screen with a normal mouse and the game never launches. I have tried to re-install several times.
Im sorry if Im making some ameteur mistake, im new to porting and wineskin.
Im running os x mountain lion 10.8.2

The download link has now the updated verion of the wrapper. It should fix your blackscreen issue.
Just move the gamefiles from the wrapper you now have, to the new one (same location in the wrapper), and it should work.
thank you solo! It's working flawlessly now
