MapleStory (Korean: 메이플스토리) is a free-to-play, 2D, side-scrolling massively multiplayer online role-playing game, developed by theSouth Korean company Wizet. Several versions of the game are available for specific countries or regions, and each is published by various companies such as Nexon. Although playing the game is free, some character appearances and gameplay enhancements can be purchased from the "Cash Shop" using real money.
In the game, players travel the "Maple World", defeating monsters and developing their characters' skills and abilities as is typical inrole-playing games. Players can interact with others in many ways, such as through chatting, trading and playing minigames. Groups of players can band together in parties to hunt monsters and share the rewards and can also collaborate forming guilds to interact more easily with each other.
Personal Notes:
This is my working port of ClassicMS. a private v62 MapleStory server. It works perfectly on a Mac and runs natively, perfect for hours of play on a laptop that only last 30 min on Vmware. the page for thisprivate server is http://p54.dyndns.org/?cype=main

no prob. OS X is the best and it needs more software. Im no programmer but at least i can contribute with tools like Wineskin.

Installed necessary libraries needed and hours (days really) of detective work. Download the torrent and check it out for yourself. Im actually running a MapleStory private SERVER on my Mac. I use native Mac MYSQL and Apache. And i used wine to load the jars that require the special JCE Unlimited Policy because OS X's built in were too much of a hassle and didnt run . I also got Halo dedicated server tool running on my Mac, it on the port database. Now Macs can be powerful game servers! I still need to uplaod my sonci generations port and make a how to on MS private server. i havent tried any versions past v62, but atleast it works! If you interested let me know and ill make a how to here or on my website.

Ah, I see private server don't have Anti-Cheat HackShield. Wine can run pefect without anti-cheat HackShield running.

Its that the cheats are disabled in the servers source for non-gm users, so hackshield is pretty useless. People cheat all the time on the official MS server. I got my XiuzSorce (MS v62) running on my Mac through Wine. Gonna post a how-to. Its great that with a some effort you can play famous MMO games, and host em. Gonna try habbo and gunbound and see if i can host them on a Mac natively.

I wanna post a copy of my working maplestory server running on OS X (without my MYSQL db password in the config of course) and a how to on how to get it running.
Damn, the torrent is taking forever to download....
torrent finished! It seems to work perfectly except.... If you try to quit within the game, it doesn't work, you must force quit. Might want to add that to known issues....
Thats strange. i swear it port works 100% for me and the only problems are the usual private server issues not a wrapper issue. i dont ahve to force quit it, i just command + q sometimes. My username is colemancda on channel 1 if you wnat to add me.
Is it me... or are there no monsters in the game whatsoever?

Yeah server problems, replace teh client exe with another v62 server if you want.
Does anyone know if this works with the latest version? If not, why not?
