2. Drag Android4Mac.app to applications folder
3. Drag bluestacks app player folder to user library.
(Macintosh HD>User>_______>Library)
4.Locate the two folders named Launch Agents & Preferences.
Now copy items from my package and add to folders of same name in library

Or you could just use the official android sdk and emulator from google .
Yea i'd say that requires a bit more knowledge than this does. Aimed at developers. Takes time to set up what version of android you want to use. install drivers to get multi touch/sound/keyboard working property. getting it to show just the screen and not the physical phone. Anyway, I've gone that route too. Just the idea here is simplicity. I'd just like to join the 2 files into one draggable app soon. I also find this quicker for the smaller tasks. If were talking on a developing level yes android sdk all day, but for pulse news / Flipboard. Just like what bluestacks is actually doing. just more streamlined and unrestricted is at my attempt here.

@flyd. Thank you for your feedback. I'm trying to figure out if it will be this way with everyone or just you.
Anyway to get it working in the meantime download bluestacks from the actual website. Go through the install process. Then take my files and overwrite files in the official bluestacks app. folder In the user/library/bluestacks app player. Please give feedback!

Edit: Okay so I've done as you said, installed bluestacks alpha and replaced the files with the ones provided by you. At the moment it is working although it's very slow.. I'll let you know what i run in to!

the thing is you cant download apps in the android store on that app like bluestacks for windows... which sucks!
@ Kimjongll_no2 You can download from the android app store! Not on the bluestacks alpha for mac but once you add my files to the original install you should have my exact set up. The most important thing is the root.fs (thats whats rooted) The data.fs is the custom launcher/tweaks and the SD Card is the installed apps off the android MP (virtual SD card). Here unlike the windows version is the rooted aspect. allowing you to install themes and other tweaks such as launchers ect. Not all applications work on the windows version! Especially ones involving root access. Such as a file browser!
@flyd Good to hear its working! Keep in mind the bluestacks engine in still in alpha for the mac side! Also i'm working on recompiling the installer so you'd just install my set up (this is proving to be hard).
Anyway Its good that its working. Hopefully not slow for everyone! Will improve soon! just thought the loaded windows bluestacks was BS! Just like with pulse news...microsoft paid them to focus on there OS! Thats ok though cause as windows users need developers to do everything for them, as this site proves...us mac users are not so dependent!

before I discovered it I had already succesfully installed the 1mobile app store on bluestacks, I did this by gaining browser access through Twitter and with that new app I was then able to change all the settings and install any free app and from the store and then even use Card dav beta to sync my icloud contacts with android.
I was very excited to discover your release but dissapointed to see there does not seem to be a way to sign into the Google play store with my own account in order to restore my previous purchases.
Is there a way round this ?

@ukmed11 Yea, sorry about that. Its a dummy account anyway, but yea i'm working on .2 tonight. Fixing all those issues. I just sat this up to get feed back. made a dummy account to ease peoples access of testing it for me. I'd say give me...

I know it is very possible on Android-x86 to get Chrome Store and by extension, Chrome Play.
There are good (well, OK) guides and downloads available... Google is your friend.

if you really want a non problematic version of android on your mac with limited effort then use virtual box .
If you are looking for a development tool then googles android sdk and official google android emulator

I am already using VirtualBox with 4.1 of Ice Cream Sandwich.

Everything works except Google Search service, search works in browser.
Is it worth "rooting" this version (assuming it isn't already) and using it?
