Download Wrapper Legend of Grimrock (native)

Legend of Grimrock is a dungeon crawling role playing game with an oldschool heart mated with modern execution. A group of prisoners are sentenced to certain death by exile to the secluded Mount Grimrock for vile crimes they may or may not have committed. Unbeknownst to the captives, the mountain is riddled with ancient tunnels, dungeons and tombs built by crumbled civilizations of days long past. If they ever wish to see daylight again and reclaim their freedom, the ragtag group of prisoners must form a team and descend through the mountain, level by level.
The game brings back an oldschool challenge with highly tactical real-time combat and grid-based movement, devious hidden switches and secrets as well as deadly traps and horrible monsters. Legend of Grimrock puts an emphasis on puzzles and exploration, and the wits and perception of the player are more important tools than even the sharpest of swords would be. And if you are a hardened dungeon crawling veteran and you crave an extra challenge, you can arm yourself with a stack of grid paper and turn on the Oldschool Mode, which disables the luxury of the automap! Are you ready for some classic dungeon- crawling first person perspective party-based RPG action? Are you ready to venture forth and unravel the mysteries of Mount Grimrock?

Personal Notes:
This is a native wrapper, it’s basically the Mac version from the Humble Indy Bundle 7 with the file grimrock.dat removed from the app. Any problem present in the official Mac version will be present here as well. The purpose of this wrapper is to give those people who bought the game somewhere where the Mac version is unavailable, such as GoG at the time of writing this, a chance to play it.

tested Game-Version: DRM-free download from Humble Bundle (both Mac and Windows)
Genre: RPG, Adventure, Fantasy, First Person Perspective

My System Specs
- OS: Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion
- CPU: 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
- RAM: 4 GB
- Video:  NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB
- Port Disc Space: 700 MB

Known Issues:
- none

Installation:
To get this port running you need to insert the game’s resource file into the wrapper
• get the file grimrock.dat from your Windows version
• Right-click Legend of Grimrock.app → Show Package Contents → Contents →
Resources
• place your grimrock.dat into that folder
Legend of Grimrock is a signed app and the OS can detect that something has been changed, so don’t be surprised if you get a warning.

About this port
Native port by the original developers, nothing more to say.

Can't get it to work unfortunately. I get this error message: "Legend of Grimrock is damaged and should be put in the trash?" (roughly translated from swedish). Has anyone else got lucky with this?

EDIT: I had to allow programs from 'anywhere' in the OSX security settings to get it to work.

Though a new problem occured: Error in grimrock.cfg and then some message about Grimrock.lua.
Just to make sure, you did provide your own grimrock.dat and put it in the right place? I removed that file for legal reasons, you will need to own the game yourself to play it, this is just to make it run on OS X for people who only have the Windows version.

A lua file should be somewhere in the grimrock.dat file, maybe yours got dmaged. or you don't have the latest version, please install your Windows version and patch it up to the latest version. I have version 1.3.6 on my system, that's what the wrapper has been made from.

I was afraid this would happen. Legend of Grimrock is a signed app, so the OS can detect if it has been tinkered with. You could try right-clickign Legend of Grimrock.app -> Show Package Contents -> Contents and then delete the _CodeSignature folder. I have no idea if that would help or just make things worse
Thanks for your help. I didn't have the latest version of Grimrock installed. Now it works great. I've really been looking forward to this. :)

Removing the _CodeSignature folder did not work but after having started the game with the "allow from anywhere"-setting I switched back to the original setting and the game works still.

Many thanks again.
Maybe inserting the right version of grimrock.dat is enough to satisfy the signature without lowering security settings. It would be nice if someone could confirm this.
GOG version works perfectly. Be sure to have the lastest patch 1.3.6 (GOG patch is labeled 1.0.3.16).

No problems! Thanks for the download!
