Dota 2 consists of session-based online multiplayer activity, with the primary objective of each match being for teams to destroy their opposing team's fortified stronghold. Each player controls a player character called a "hero", who is given the responsibility of participating in team combat, which generally takes place along a series of lanes that connect their opposing bases, lined with defensive towers. The gameplay elements are largely incorporated from Defense of the Ancients, with the game's lead designer, IceFrog, being the longest-serving and current developer of the Warcraft III mod

Personal Notes:
I really like this game but recent very popular port was not working properly with my system, so i decided to create my own. I tried to make it as lightweight as possible, but well functioning. As a result, I decided to share this port with people, who have similar Mac (MacBook Pro 2012 with specs below).

I'm very happy with this port and use it with pleasure. Wish you the same!)

My System Specs:
- OS:    Mac OS X 10.7.5
- CPU: Intel Core i7 2.7 GHz
- RAM: 8 GB
- Video:   NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB / Intel HD Graphics 4000
- Disk Space: 6.5 GB (after Dota 2 Installation)
- Wrapper size:  407 MB

Known Issues:
  • If you have AMD hardware I strongly recomend to use HyperTsunaz's port here
  • Keyboard inactive or invisible Mouse cursor (fix below):
    • cmd+Tab (switch windows)
    • In menu Windows select Steam Tray
    • restore Dota 2 window from dock
  • CMeshDX8::LockVertexBuffer error (fix below):
    • Right click on the Dota2 game in steam window
    • Select Properties
    • Click on "Set Launch Options"
    • Add "-nod3d9ex" (without quotes)
    • Close and Play

Due to my busy schedule I'm not able to fix every issue, but if you post the response I'll try my best to make it work.

Installation:
  • Unpack
  • Double Click on "DotaMac" Application (You can move it to your Applications folder if you wish)
  • Log In using your Steam Account
  • Select Dota2 and Click install
    • Proceed to Download
  • Click play

What's New in Version v2.2 (See full changelog)

  • Steam infinite update loop eliminated and connection bug.
  • New engine
  • Might not work with older Macs

Glad to see you here!) It would be great if you share the way to fix this for all computers as I can only test with my 2 macbooks.) Thank you for reply!
its 8600 and 9400 GF problem. I hope you two know what this option do, and it disables for real.
Right now wine video memory allocation dont work corrent even on forced DX8 mode.
So this solution will work for sure on for those who got shared video memory like Intel 3000 - 4000 with the RAM.
But I use FreeMemory Pro before wrapper run. At least on MBP with 4 Gb RAM
Excuse my ignorance, guys
i'm not a specialist in all this
how to do it?
could you please describe in details what to do, where to click and etc
Installation:
  • Unpack
  • Double Click on "DotaMac" Application (You can move it to your Applications folder if you wish)
  • Log In using your Steam Account
  • Select Dota2 and Click install
    • Proceed to Download

You don't have to be a specialist to read this, and apply it.
I didn't mean the way it sounded
What's that? - "Fix for CMeshDX8::LockVertexBuffer in issues section"

It means you should read "CMeshDX8::LockVertexBuffer error" part of the Issues section above. On this page in the description of the port.
hi guys after i press the play button steam attempt to install directx but it gos very fast and then nothing happend and game will not launch
after i play the game from steam it gose to main menu and play button is gray and it write spectator client
and at the right side it right''you are running a spectator only version of dota2'' what should i do...?
I am still experiencing the infinite update loop, is there anyway to disable auto-updating in steam or has anyone found away for the update to work?

note: this only happens when I open the dota mac application for the second time, so I basically have to re download the port everytime I want to play, would manually updating while on steam work better?
