Life Is Strange is an episodic interactive drama graphic adventure video game developed by Dontnod Entertainment, and published by Square Enix. The game's plot focuses on Maxine Caulfield, a photography student who discovers that she has the ability to rewind time at any moment, leading her every choice to enact the butterfly effect. The game will consist of five episodes. With six weeks between each episode, it released its first on 30 January 2015. Life Is Strange is available for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 via digital distribution.
In the game, story and character development serve as the central point rather than traditional graphic adventure tropes like point-and-click puzzles. The player's actions will be able to adjust the narrative as it unfolds, and reshape it once allowed to travel back in time. Themes of memory and identity are used to convey a sense of nostalgia in the realm of adolescence.

Personal Notes:

Update 2017:
I uploaded a new Wrapper with one of the newer Wine Engines. Reports state that the Unreal Engine works out of the box now, but might not for OSX. I appreciate anyone who wants to test this, since I haven't installed the game at the moment. The old version is still available to download if the new one doesn't work.

Slight Deviation from my Red Orchestra 2 Wrapper. It is the Unreal 3 Engine, so a decent performance will still require a dedicated graphic card (512MB+) or newer. Onboard graphics should have at least 1024MB VRam. I'm still testing things out, but so far the game runs on my setup, with a few fps problems.

- Still testing different configurations. Please be aware that this might not work on all System Specs. Everything pre 10.9 Mavericks or Yosemite can cause Issues.
- Unpack the downloaded archive with 7z, Keka or BetterZip

Tested on:
- OS: Mac OSX 10.9.4
- CPU: Intel Core i5 2.3 GHz
- RAM: 8GB
- Video: Intel HD3000
- Disk Space: Around 400MB for the Wrapper and 2GB for the Game

And

- OS: Mac OSX 10.9.4
- CPU: Intel Core i7 4.0Ghz
- RAM: 16GB
- Video: Nvidia GTX760 2GB

Known Issues:
- Sound issues. Some sounds may be distorted or play twice when a level is loading. Depends on your hardware.
- Texture Issues. Some textures of very few objects (cameras, TVs, Car tires, Eyelashes) may render in rainbow colors. I'm not sure whats causing this, but probably something like Depth of Field or Motion Blur. Sadly disabling it disables tooltips and overlay infos. Again, this probably depends on your hardware.
- Crash after Intro. Some Specs might have problems with this. I found that starting the game directly through the Life is Strange.exe (Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/common/Life is Strange/Binaries/Win32) fixes some errors. Also, disable the Steam Overlay to prevent crashes.
- First time loading of the game and cutscenes might stutter. Restart the game or wait a few minutes for it to resolve itself
- Try playing with the settings to get good performance results. Yuu will always have to turn down the quality when playing games through Wine. To eliminate issues, disable or enable the MacDriver through the Wineskin.app Screen Options or changing the used Windows Version from Windows XP to 7,8 or 10 using winecfg.

If the game works, but the performance plummets, try using my config files and scale them upwards. Remember to lock all files as read only:
Download Link

You should find the Life is Strange Config folder under /Users/YOURUSERNAME/Documents/MyGames/Life is Strange/LifeIsStrangeGame/Config. This can vary if you are using Yosemite or El Capitan.

Please report any issues you encounter.

Fresh Installation through Steam:
1. Start the Wrapper
2. Let Steam download itself and login
3. Download the Game
4. Disable Friends and Steam Overlay in the Steam Settings
5. Start the Game
6. (Optional) After the first time Installation (vcredist, DirectX) navigate to Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/common/Life is Strange (by right clicking the wrapper and opening the package contents) and delete the CommonRedist folder, so you won't get bothered by it again.

Installation with existing files:
1. Start the Wrapper
2. Let Steam download itself, login and log out
3. Open the Wrapper with right click -> show package contents
4. Place your existing Life is Strange Folder in Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/common
5. Start the Wrapper, login into steam and begin to install Life is Strange. Steam should fetch all existing files and patch them if needed
6. Disable Friends and Steam Overlay in the Steam Settings
7. Start the Game through Steam
6. (Optional) After the first time Installation (vcredist, DirectX) navigate to Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/common/Life is Strange (by right clicking the wrapper and opening the package contents) and delete the CommonRedist folder, so you won't get bothered by it again.

Cracked Version might work. Not tested yet.

That one doesn't seem to want to open at all; it just launches Wineskin instead of downloading Steam.
Steam should be installed. Can you try navigating to the Steam.exe with Wineskin.app under Program Files/Steam?
Hi carlizzlerose,

Somehow the two files Ilinked in the comments (Engine and Wrapper) have been taken down due to copyright infringement. I don't know why that was an issue, but please write me a private message if you still need them.
Hi ! Did anyone try this wrapper with the second episode which was released yesterday ?
I've been trying to install an unofficial version of the game but I keep getting DirectX errors when launching it on Windows (XINPUT D3DCOMPILER...). Couldn't make it work any better with Wineskin.
doesn't work for me, I open it and click on install window software located the exe its inside an iso and it says No new executable found?
I open the app and it installs Steam, but when it finishes, the app closes and if I open it again, it shows the icon for a second and disappear.
Late 2013 iMac 27" (NVidia GeForce GTX 775M) with Yosemite.
The wrapper actually does work with episode 2 but I'm having some annoying issues :
- subtitles are messed up, some string identifiers are showing up instead of the actual text, which is not really a problem since you can just disable those but I would be nice to have a fix for this
- there seem to be some texture bug, black frames are showing up in game, hiding part of the scenes

The game does not appear in Steam. WHYYY???
Hi ! Thank you for this port, It works nicely !
I finished the 1st episode with almost no problem, except some unexpected FPS drop (With audio repetitions) at a precise moment of the game. To arrange this, I used Command + Tab to go to the finder, then come back to Life is Strange.

In the graphics options, I put everything at "Low" except for the textures "High"
@Zephon

it's awesome and it works really well. I only have one Problem and it would be awesome if somebody could tell me how to fix it.

I can only open this wrapper if i go into open package contents and run this wrapper as a test run. I can't directly open it from the desktop

I'm getting the same issue, not sure how to proceed or fix. Running OS 10.10.3 Yosemite.

Are you using the Steam Version of the game? Its possible that, if you are using another install method than steam, the install .exe may require other prerequisites to work properly, which I did not test yet. The "No new executable found" message hints at missing software required for your installer, like .NET Framework, VCredist or Visual Basic.  Edit: Open the Wineskin.app inside the wrapper, select the installer .exe under "Advanced" and do a test run with it. Try and post the resulting log here.

Episode 2 on Steam is working fine for me so far. I'll try to replicate problems people are having, but I have little to no time at the moment. Sorry for the slow support.

Try refreshing the Wrapper in the Wineskin Options or change the Engine to something newer and then back again to the previous. Can't really say what is causing this. Its working for me without problems. Are you running Yosemite? Write me a Message if you want a newer Engine with the Unreal Engine Fix. Might solve some problems as well.

Don't know what to tell you. Steam should be working. Install it appropriately and it should at least start. Have a look at my install instructions for exisiting files and Steam.
can Macbook 6,1 run this game??? whit 3GB ram
Hi, just downloaded this wrap. It works great but it keeps saying that I ran out of video memory barely into the game (right after Max wakes up in class) and forcing me to quit the game. My memory card is higher than yours (yours up there says it has only 3000 but mine has 6000) so I'm confused as to why this is happening, however I'm not very good with this sort of thing so I could be wrong. I deleted all my video files on my Macbook Air and this still keeps happening? What should I do? Thank you!
Unreal Engine on Wine is pretty unstable. You probably tried turning down the graphics options. But I posted my config a few pages back. The parts you want to edit are under [SystemSettings] .

You should find your own Life is Strange config under "/Users/YOURUSERNAME/Documents/My Games/Life is Strange/LifeisStrangeGame/Config". Then just edit the "LifeisStrangEngine.ini" with the following:

Try tweak them to your liking or use my setup and scale up your quality after that (Resolution, Shadows etc.). Keep in mind, that not all settings have any effect on the game and some others break it. I think motion blur and/or depth of field can't be turned off.

Lowering the textures also helps a bit. They are right under the [SystemSettings] I posted above. Here are the numbers I used, but again, this is optional, tweak them how you want:

Also try activating or deactivating D3DBoost by opening the package contents of my wrapper (right click -> open package contents), start up Wineskin.app and under Advanced -> Set Screen Options untick or tick "Use Direct3DBoost".
