Dark Souls (ダークソウル, Dāku Sōru?) is an action role-playing video game by FromSoftware. It was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and published by Namco Bandai Games internationally.[2] A spiritual successor to FromSoftware's Demon's Souls and the second installment of the Souls series, Dark Souls began development under the working title of Project Dark.[3] The game was released in Japan on September 22, 2011, and in North America, Australia, and Europe in October.[4] On August 24, 2012, the "Prepare to Die" edition of Dark Souls was released for PC, featuring additional content previously unavailable to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 users. On October 23, 2012, the additional content from the PC version was released as downloadable content for consoles under the title Artorias of the Abyss.[5]
Dark Souls takes place in the fictional kingdom of Lordran. Players assume the role of a cursed human character who has been chosen to make a pilgrimage out of the Undead Asylum to discover the fate of the Undead. The plot of Dark Souls is primarily told through descriptions of in-game items and dialogue with non-playable characters (NPCs).
Dark Souls received critical acclaim, with critics praising its combat depth, marked but fair difficulty, and deeply rooted mythology.[6] In April 2013, FromSoftware announced Dark Souls had sold 2.37 million copies.[7] The PC version was the second most played Games for Windows Live title in 2012 based on unique users.[8] A sequel, Dark Souls II, was announced on December 7, 2012, and was released in March 2014.[9]

Personal Notes:
1. install Dark Souls on Windows (virtual machine or you can try this wrapper)
2. copy Steam folder inside Program Files
3. if you want to play offline copy the crack inside DATA folder (that is inside Dark Souls folder).
4. choise DarkSouls.exe if you use the crack, Steam.exe if not (if you choise Steam add -no -dwrite).
Dsfix is not compatible with this port, if you know how to improve the port just write a post and/or pm me.

My System Specs:
- OS:   10.10.3
- CPU: Intel i7 Ivy Bridge quad core 2.3 GHz
- RAM:  8GB
- Video: Intel HD 4000 and NVidia 650m 1 GB
- Disk Space:  8GB

Known Issues:
- keyboard input does not work on fullscreen native mode.
- Dsfix does not work (if you know how to fix this just write me a mp... this is not a reup of the old wrapper).
- Iris pro integrated graphics card and Intel HD 5000 are not compatible. Intel HD 4000 is compatible.
-32-bit applications are not supported on 10.12.13. You will still be able to play on 10.12.12.

Installation:

1. install Dark Souls on Windows (virtual machine or you can try this wrapper)
2. copy Steam folder inside Program Files
3. if you want to play offline copy the crack inside DATA folder (that is inside Dark Souls folder).
4. choise DarkSouls.exe if you use the crack, Steam.exe if not (if you choise Steam add -no -dwrite).

What's New in Version 1.0 (See full changelog)

  • -Tested with Steam no crack.
  • -Tested on OSX 10.11.6
  • -Tested on Mac Os 10.12.5
  • -Warning: Last version of steam broke this port. You can use it with a crack or you can update wine to staging 2.12 and disable fullscreen.
  • -32-bit applications are not supported on 10.12.13. You will still be able to play on 10.12.12.

Thanks for the port, man. I know there's already Dan's port but I wanted to give this one a try, since I'm still having my freezing issue (making the game completely unplayable).
But the wrapper doesn't work at all. I can't even install the game^^

So I think you should double check it!

Thanks!
Sweet! I really hope that this will work for me.

I don't know what to check... for me it just work, I've finish the game with this port.
just install dark souls on windows (maybe a virtual machine... I don't know if you can install it inside my wineskin), copy steam folder inside Program Files (inside the .app), and select darksouls.exe (only if you want to use the crack, if not just select steam.exe with -no -dwrite).

just tell me:
1. can you start steam.exe?
2. have you tried it with and without crack?
3. what OS are you using (I'm on yosemite, maybe el capitan is not compatible, I don't know)?
4. do you tried to use dsfix (it's not compatible with my port... I don't know why)?

Just for you to know Dan's port it's offline (and it didn't work for me when it was online, that's why I tried to do a new port).

Also, maybe it's just a problem in instructions... I forgot the color label but my upload is really slow so I don't want to reup it for this.

Finally, I'm not a real expert of wineskin (this is my first time I publish a port, I don't think I can change it to make it work for how have problem), I just tried to follow winehq instructions and my old playonmac port (with my first try I was only able to do a port inside playonmac).

that was my message on Dan's port:

Good morning,
Since, I have managed to make a port that works let me explain how I did it:
1. Install Steam on playonmac
2. Install these winetricks:
dinput8
dinput
quartz
wmp10
devenum
xinput
vcrun6
3. Install Dark Souls
4. Start the Game

Pay attention. You don't have to use dsfix
I used that to made a wineskin port.
Sadly this doesn't start at all in El Capitan, I've tried to follow this:

IIRC the version of X11 bundled with Wineskin is broken in El Capitan. So go into the Wineskin app (right click on the app and show package contents). Then open the Wineskin app in that folder. When it opens click advanced, then options, then check the last box. (force use of system installed XQuartz). If that doesn't work, try checking 'use Mac Driver instead of X11' under the set screen options.

but still nothing.

I've done a test run, that's the log:

dyld: Library not loaded: @rpath/libwine.1.dylib
  Referenced from: /Users/user/Downloads/Dark Souls.app/Contents/Frameworks/wswine.bundle/bin/Dark Souls924458071Wine

Maybe it's a SIP problem (rootless new security "feature" on el capitan, the reason because I'm still on yosemite), but I used the last wineskin version (wineskin update compatibility with SIP) so I think that's not the problem (but if x11 is not full compatible with el capitan the problem is SIP).

I tried to find something on google:
http://wineskin.urge...7&display=print

here they suggest to change Engine, just try to do that.

Update wineskin by opening the wineskin winery application press the update button. Then go to your wrapper right-click it -> show package contents --> open the wineskin application and select update wrapper after you did that re-install your wineskin engine and press rebuild wrapper and select yes. this will rebuild your wrapper so it will use the newest wineskin version, now you have to re-install any wineskin winetricks. and you are done congratulations now your wrapper works on OS X El Capitan

ez peasy lemon squeezy :D

you can update a wrapper without rebuild it (change engine).
Also some port will not work on el capitan because of x11 is not full compatible with el capitan.
Also I used the last version of wineskin (the one teorically compatible with el capitan) so I don't know if your suggestion can help.

it only helps when you rebuild it trust me (tried it on my Rocket League wrapper without rebuilding and that doesn't work). when you update your wrapper then you need to rebuild the wrapper in order for it to work on OS X El Capitan
hi, my game runs fine, but when i reach the first campfire my screen turns so strange with high Green/blue colors, and i can't do nothing until it shuts down... Is there any fix known ? i tried to search but couldn't reach anything conclusive.

Edit : Keep in mind that i used playonmac with the indications to install the game on steam as i don't have any windows machine where i could install my game ..

Sorry I don't have this problem so I cannot fix it. I finish this game with playonmac port. maybe is a graphics card problem, what is your mac graphics card?
you can try to use a virtual box virtual machine with a free copy of windows (you can try it for 30/60 days if I remember correctly), to install the game and get the folder. you wont lose any save. I don't know if it can help, if this is a graphics card problem it probably wont, and if you have an integrated card probably this is the problem.
intel iris 6100 i deleted everything, i'm gonna try to start again i'll tell you

this in an integrated card, it can be the problem... if it doen't work for you after your new try I will edit main message to exclude intel iris.

Aye, i had this exact same issue with the bonfire (i'm also on an Iris 6100). Did you have subsequent luck from starting again?
update know issues:
iris pro is not compatible
I'm downloading the necessary files at the moment, but has anyone found out if a PS3 controller would work with this through bluetooth?
