Homeworld 2 continues the epic struggle of the Hiigarans and their leader Karan S'jet. Many thought their hardships would end when they returned to Hiigara, yet fate has not been so kind to the Exiles. Now the Hiigarans face a new and bitter enemy, a renegade clan from the eastern fringes of the galaxy, who wield the power of the ancients. Homeworld 2 chronicles the valiant journey of the Mothership and its crew into the oldest regions of the galaxy to confront their new foe and discover the truth behind their exile.

Fullscreen Switching:

This title supports the ability to toggle between fullscreen and windowed modes. Use the following keys combinations to enable this feature:
Command + Return:  Toggles the game between windowed and fullscreen modes.
Command + Tab:    Minimizes the game when in fullscreen mode.

Installation instructions:
- Install Homeworld 2 on (1) a physical PC running Micro$oft Windows (2) a virtual machine running Windows, or (3) via CrossOver Games or Pro.
- Apply a no-cd patch to the game (I am not sure if the game can detect  your CD through the wrapper). The patch should be one that replaces the original homeworld2.exe file.
-Rename the patched .exe file to: homeworld2nocd.exe
- Copy this entire patched Homeworld 2 folder, including the Sierra folder that contains it, into C:\Program Files\ in the wrapper.
- The full path to Homeworld 2 in the wrapper should now be: C:\Program Files\Sierra\Homeworld2\bin\release\homeworld2nocd.exe
- Double click on the wrapper and the game should start. Please post away if you encounter any problems.

Removing Homeworld 2:

- Ensure you are logged in using an account which has Administrative privileges.
- Delete the icon for "Homeworld 2" from your Applications folder or where you installed the game.
- To fully remove the application from your system, additional files can be found in /Users/<YourUsername>/Library/Preferences/HW2Cider Preferences.  Please note that this folder also contains your saved games.

Notes/Known issues:

1. Whether Internet multiplay will work depends on whether your copy of Homeworld 2 has a legitimate serial number. LAN and Internet IP games not tested.
2. Be careful when switching resolutions in-game, please do not select one that is larger than your screen.
3. This game has not been tested on Macs with GMA 950 or other Intel graphics chips. I heard the old CX wrapper works, though. UPDATE: GMA 950 works.
4. You might get an error message saying you have obsolete video card drivers, I haven't had any problems ignoring this message.

Hi,

I have already make a cider port of Homeworld 2 - French version. To solve the error message saying you have an obsolete video card drivers, put file "nvoglnt.dll" in /transgaming/drive_c/windows/system32. To find this .dll, google is your friend.

Have a nice day.
Hmmm, didn't help. According to Google nvoglnt.dll is a Nvidia file, I have an ATI graphics card, maybe that's making the difference? I wonder if there is an ATI equivalent to nvoglnt.dll..... Thanks for the tip though!
Oooops, sorry. Well, you can try to see in ..\Homeworld2\Bin\Release\Hw2.log
You will see probably a sentence like that : "Using ATI Corporation's 2.0 ATI blablabla... OpenGL Engine renderer (Suspected driver is nvoglnt.dll 6.14.10.7772)
Thanks. I guarantee it going to work on my GMa 950.
I'm not sure but the equivalent of nvoglnt.dl for ATI cards will be atioglx1.dll

You can download this dll here : http://www.search-dl... ... 1.dll.html

Please penyuan, tell me if this trick solve your problem about obsolete video cards drivers.

That's great, thanks for the info! :)
Austin:

It worked! My HW2.log file says:

Using ATI Technologies Inc.'s 2.0 ATI-1.5.48 ATI Radeon X1600 OpenGL Engine renderer (Suspected driver is atioglxx.dll)

I found the latest version of atioglxx.dll from ATI's website and placed it in the wrapper's system32 folder and now it works great!

Thanks so much for your help!
Great penyuan!

Just for information for non ATI/NVidia users, equivalent of nvoglnt.dll and atiogl1.dll is opengl32.dll (cg. S3, Matrox cards...)

Good night

Yea, if it requires a 16mb graphics card, it will definitely work. 32mb, will in almost all cases work. 64mb is were it gets hairy.
So anyone tried network matches yet? Didn't work on the native build, now with this port it isn't really crossplattforming anymore... share your experiences.
Just another one question penyuan, your homeworld 2 version is 1.0 or 1.1? v.1.1 is necessary for network matches. (My version is 1.0)
The version I got working is indeed Homeworld 2 v1.1. I even got the Complex mod to work with the wrapper (http://www.homeworld2complex.com).
But I haven't tested multiplayer yet, if anyone does please share their results!
*erased*

Got it to work :P
Wow...I bet this will run better than the mac port
