Fallout: New Vegas

When approaching the development of the New Vegas strip, Obsidian knew that they wanted to create a location that was familiar and recognizable. All of the sights and sounds as players are walking between the neon lights should, in an instant, trigger the feeling they are walking down the Vegas strip.

Of course, New Vegas’ strip is not without its own flourishes. Players can expect to see drunken soldiers aimlessly walking along the streets and can even dabble in the sin of the city themselves, but don’t let yourself get too carried away or else security bots will have to lay down the law and take you out. If only actual Vegas had those.
Check out the developer diary below, and keep your eyes peeled for a surprise appearance by Mr. New Vegas himself, Wayne Newton, as well.

As one would expect from a game that takes place in and around casinos, there will be gambling mini-games abound. From the diary we can see that several card games will be making appearances along with the old Strip standard: slot machines. If they have a couple Texas hold ‘em tables I’m going to be hard pressed to even continue the story.
It certainly has been a pleasant treat to hear Obsidian speak about all that went into making Fallout: New Vegas a unique experience that still falls in line with gamers’ expectations. The locale is extremely enticing and customization is being taken to the next level, so if the developers can simply hit all of the right notes that Fallout 3 hit, I believe we have a winner on our hands. We’re only a couple of days away from its release so you better hit the bank and withdraw some singles.
What do you think of Obsidian’s New Vegas strip? What do you hope to see recreated under the bright lights and amidst the debauchery?

A word of warning, however - while Vault-Tec engineers have prepared for every contingency,* in Vegas, fortunes can change in an instant. Enjoy your stay.

Welcome to Vegas. New Vegas. It’s the kind of town where you dig your own grave prior to being shot in the head and left for dead…and that’s before things really get ugly. It’s a town of dreamers and desperados being torn apart by warring factions vying for complete control of this desert oasis. It’s a place where the right kind of person with the right kind of weaponry can really make a name for themselves, and make more than an enemy or two along the way.

As you battle your way across the heat-blasted Mojave Wasteland, the colossal Hoover Dam, and the neon drenched Vegas Strip, you’ll be introduced to a colorful cast of characters, power-hungry factions, special weapons, mutated creatures and much more. Choose sides in the upcoming war or declare “winner takes all” and crown yourself the King of New Vegas in this follow-up to the 2008 videogame of the year, Fallout 3. Enjoy your stay.

Key Features:

Feel the Heat in New Vegas! Not even nuclear fallout could slow the hustle of Sin City. Explore the vast expanses of the desert wastelands – from the small towns dotting the Mojave Wasteland to the bright lights of the New Vegas strip. See the Great Southwest as could only be imagined in Fallout.
Feuding Factions, Colorful Characters and a Host of Hostiles! A war is brewing between rival factions with consequences that will change the lives of all the inhabitants of New Vegas. The choices you make will bring you into contact with countless characters, creatures, allies, and foes, and determine the final explosive outcome of this epic power struggle.
New Systems! Enjoy new additions to Fallout: New Vegas such as a Companion Wheel that streamlines directing your companions, a Reputation System that tracks the consequences of your actions, and the aptly titled Hardcore Mode to separate the meek from the mighty. Special melee combat moves have been added to bring new meaning to the phrase “up close and personal”. Use V.A.T.S. to pause time in combat, target specific enemy body parts and queue up attacks, or get right to the action using the finely-tuned real-time combat mechanics.
An Arsenal of Shiny New Guns! With double the amount of weapons found in Fallout 3, you’ll have more than enough new and exciting ways to deal with the threats of the wasteland and the locals. In addition, Vault-Tec engineers have devised a new weapons configuration system that lets you tinker with your toys and see the modifications you make in real time.
Let it Ride! In a huge, open world with unlimited options you can see the sights, choose sides, or go it alone. Peacemaker or Hard Case, House Rules, or the Wild Card - it’s all in how you play the game.(info about game from official fact sheet)

God! Thanks people I was so waiting for it!!!!!
awesome
would this work for fallout 3 GOTY?
where do we download it?
so i have a mac i downloaded the thing from the guy above me, when i click the thing it says install windows software, so do i put in the disk for the pc version and install it
It lags way to much and I have a pretty decent computer.
Amazing game
How would you change the graphics for the game? It  works ok on the automatic graphics chooser thing and it gave my computer the high graphics. But it would work a lot better on Medium. How to change it?
I have no idea how to get this working. I press play and it closes itself. What do i do??
Hi! How can i install mods in the game?
Thank u!
it works fine with 10.8.2 with graphic set to high. with ultra graphic it doesn´t work.
If you have 2 or more cores, do the following  :-

1) Open ~/My Games/FalloutNV/FALLOUT.INI
2) Find bUseThreadedAI=0 and change it to bUseThreadedAI=1
3) Add iNumHWThreads=2 after bUseThreadedAI=1
4) Save file

Installing should be similar to installing mods on Skyrim (if you managed to do that). Here's the steps:

1) Right click the game and press 'Show package contents'.
2) Go through contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/Program files/Fallout: New Vegas/Data.
3) When you download a mod, there should be a .esm or .esp file in it. You want to throw that
handsome fellow into the Data file
ALSO: You should download Keka or the Unarchiver from the App store to convert the .7z
files into a readable format for Mac (.7z file + (insert program name mentioned
above) = file folder with wanted mods)
4) Your mod may also have additional folders in it as well. The description of the modder's
installation guide to where to place these folders; there are always shoved into the Data folder
    anyway
5) After that, you want to have these files made: DLCList.txt and Plugins.txt. you going to place
these guys in the following directory: contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/Program files/Fallout: New Vegas/%USERPROFILE%/Local Settings/Application Data/Fallout: New Vegas.
This is where you down the names of the mods in installed: i.e. (name of mode).esm or .esp. Makesure you write in both!
6) Done!
When I click on the wineskin installer and it tells me to choose setup executable, what application do I suppose to click? I'm new to ports, confusing to me.
Fallout: New Vegas.exe in the Fallout game you uploaded onto your computer
would this work on mountain lion?
awesome!

Is this a necessary step to the process? Because I cannot find this directory.
MacOS 10.9 flat out refuses to launch Fallout with the .INI file edited to include AI threading and other tweaks - no mods installed. Any chance we can take a look at why 10.9 has made the port grumpy?
For damn's sake, where is the god damn download button?!
The knowledge you share really changes me in life, I sincerely thank you for the things you have done, sure your blog will help more people. Sincerely thanks
