This series is loosely based on a movie and set of novels from the late 70's. The story has become wildly popular world wide due to the this rendition of the story line, the video games. For those that have played the series know what the draw of the game really is all about. The game is a first person RPG set in the nuclear aftermath of atomic proportions. Without getting into too much detail I can assure you that the game has gained a reputation for a reason. The games have an authentic feel to them not found in any other game I've come across. The haunting environment and terrifying creatures lend the living breathing atmosphere that makes up the Zone and it's surrounding areas. Tread carefully as you complete main missions and hundred of side jobs throughout the entire series

These games are not new to the Mac platform, in fact it was originally ported about three years ago. The software development over the last three years has increased exponentially and better support for games has been implemented into wine.

One of the biggest draws of these games is the physical environment, and open ended world…The windows version has enjoyed the full use of all four lighting schemes, the low static lighting, and the three top tier dynamic lighting schemes. Unfortunately Wine lacked the ability to make the dynamic lighting schemes work….UNTIL NOW

FULL DYNAMIC LIGHTING in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series is now implemented. I have only updated the Clear Sky wrapper for now but the other two will be updated very soon…This post will be edited to include the other two in due time.

If you would like to implement this into your currently installed games you can visit the Wine HQ App DB and search for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game you are playing. You will be required to know how to edit the registry file located in the resources folder of the wrapper.

But for now here is:
Port Database Entry: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl , S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky , S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat

Porter(s):cluthz & dankoB

Your questions have very likely already been answered. If you are still unable to find an answer please post question or comments there.

This port uses a modified Wineskin engine all thanks to Thanoulas and mr_lundis…without their two patched engines the Stalker Wineskin engine would not have been possible.

Year 2012. Six years passed since the time of the Second catastrophe to have made the April events of 1986 fade.

The game is set in the Chernobyl exclusion zone which turned from a destiny-breaker place into a threat to all mankind. The Zone is reluctant to open up its mysteries and needs to be forced to do it. It is a rare hero who can reach the very heart of the Zone onto find out what danger awaits him there.

A danger which, compared to marauders and enemy groupings, all monsters and anomalies, will seem a mere preparation to the meeting with something more fatal and threatening.

But for now… get ready, hero. Collect artefacts and trade, grope your path and keep an eye on the rear, catch roentgens and fight – only make sure you survive! And then, perhaps, if you are persistent and truly lucky, you will find out why all this had fallen on you.
Key features:

Living-and-breathing world: virtual monsters and stalkers migrate around the Zone, similarly to the player they are preoccupied with day-to-day things – feeding, fighting, looking for prey, trading, sleeping, taking rest
Freedom of movement around the storyline, limited only by the player’s will and abilities
The world of post-Soviet environment
Authentic objectives of the Chernobyl exclusion zone – the power engineers city of Pripyat, Chernobyl NPP, Chernobyl-2 complex of over-the-horizon detection and more
Atmosphere of eerie mystery and constant danger
Multiple game endings
System of weather effects and dynamic day & night shift
Photo-realistic graphics, adding to the game atmosphere immersion
Realistic ballistics, extensive arsenal of real weapon prototypes
Unique multiplayer modes implemented within the game entourage – artefacts collection, anomalies, radiation, weather effects, day & night change etc
Extensive map editor possibilities for multiplayer gaming

The Zone is a huge abandoned territory, with twenty-year-old dilapidated buildings, overgrown with forests and anomalous vegetation. It is a territory with deserted surface and underground research facilities, neglected military bases and testing grounds for new technologies. The radioactive land is covered with sores of burned out soil, poisonous fogs, and deadly gravitational anomalies. It is a world of a terrible anthropogenic disaster, and in the center of this hell sit the remains of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

The in-game Zone is a reconstruction of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and the 30-kilometer Exclusion Zone around it. Moving along the storyline, the player will visit such places as the Swamps, the Red Forest, the Limansk city and, of course, the sarcophagus of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Many in-game locations have real prototypes.

We are trying to recreate the true atmosphere of the real industrial disaster of Chernobyl. You will easily recognize all the sights known from photos of the Exclusion Zone.
The photographs and video records made during our multiple trips into the real Chernobyl Zone gave us the essential background to reconstruct the Exclusion Zone in the game. The architecture and all of the textures you will see are as real as possible.

The events of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat unfold shortly after the end of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. Having discovered about the open path to the Zone center, the government decides to hold a large-scale military "Fairway" operation aimed to take the CNPP under control.

According to the operation's plan, the first military group is to conduct an air scouting of the territory to map out the detailed layouts of anomalous fields location. Thereafter, making use of the maps, the main military forces are to be dispatched.

Despite thorough preparations, the operation fails. Most of the avant-garde helicopters crash. In order to collect information on reasons behind the operation failure, Ukraine's Security Service send their agent into the Zone center.
From now on everything depends on the player.
