A note from the Skyrim developers
Quote
Like you, we’re fans as well. We simply make the game we’d love to play. The game we’d book vacation time to play. And like you, we’ve waited a long time to see the Elder Scrolls return. Fallout 3 was an amazing experience for us and we learned a lot. In some ways, Skyrim is both our follow up to Oblivion, and our follow up to Fallout 3. Each time we strive to improve on the style of game we enjoy; one where you can be who you want, and do whatever you want.
To do that this time, we knew, like before, we had to start over. We needed to reinvent large parts of the game and its technology. We started with the graphics renderer, and how we would bring the scale of snow covered mountains, dynamic weather systems, and massive dragons to life along with the small details of how people lived; from the forks they used, to the fish they caught, and the meat they cooked. We then rewrote all the major graphics and gameplay systems including lighting, shadows, level of detail, animation, interface, scripting, dialogue, quest systems, melee, magic, and more. All of those changes made it into our internal editor as well. So much had changed that we decided to call the engine and editor by a new name, the Creation Engine and the Creation Kit. We can't wait to see what all the brilliant mod makers do with these tools.
All of this is done to bring epic fantasy to life in a game unlike we've done before. We try to improve each game we do, but we also try to make each stand on its own. For whatever the year, be it 1994 with Arena or 2011 with Skyrim, we try to create something that feels like you're experiencing The Elder Scrolls for the first time, a game that brings to life a new world on your screen, fueling your own imagination with possibility.

The Empire of Tamriel is on the edge. The High King of Skyrim has been murdered.
Alliances form as claims to the throne are made. In the midst of this conflict, a far more dangerous, ancient evil is awakened. Dragons, long lost to the passages of the Elder Scrolls, have returned to Tamriel.
The future of Skyrim, even the Empire itself, hangs in the balance as they wait for the prophesized Dragonborn to come; a hero born with the power of The Voice, and the only one who can stand amongst the dragons.
Skyrim is also known as the Old Kingdom or the Fatherland, is the home of the Nords. It was the first region of Tamriel to be settled by humans, who migrated there from the land of Atmora in the far north, across the Sea of Ghosts. The date of this migration is unknown, although it was before the full flourishing of Elvish civilization. According to legend, Ysgramor landed first at Hsaarik Head, at the extreme northern tip of Skyrim's Broken Cape. It is said that he and his companions were fleeing the civil war in Atmora, which at that time had a sizable population. They named the land Mereth, after the many elves that roamed the virgin forests of Tamriel.

downloading it can be a bit tricky without a windows computer but their are ways. download the steam version of the wrapper that uses wine for instance. you'll need to put your skyrim folder into it temporarily (inside of the steam apps folder once it's downloaded) and then download the update. I'm not sure how this will work however because this wrapper requires a cracked copy, but it's worth a shot. Worst case scenario you have to re-download skyrim through steam via the described method.
Hope I was of some help.

So when I first got this to run, it ran BEAUTIFULLY. Now, at level 53, it lags for a good, long minute every three minutes, which basically makes it unplayable. I wonder if I can do anything about this - if somehow some files got bloated or I can flush something...I'm not sure I know what I'm talking about, but I'm just hoping I can do something. Also, maybe fiddling with the .ini files might help. I''ve got some mods and some meshes/textures installed, but they've been installed since the start, when the game ran well. Thanks in advance for your help ;-)

You're not downloading the game, just a 'suit' that you put on your purchased PC copy of Skyrim when you take it out to a Mac dress party.

Second, did you follow all the steps to install Skyrim? Make sure you run through the steps a second time!

It does work with mountain lion, and i have no issues. but i have tried to do a fresh instal of the port with the same issue. Meybe you can download the complete port and game off the web and try it that way. If you paid for the game there is nothing illegal about doing that.

It will be extremely difficult to find a direct download of skyrim as it is about 8 gigs big. I bought the game on steam and then torrented "Skyrim for mac". after that, I downloaded the latest patch for skyrim off of skidrowcrack.com and updated the game manually.
Sorry I could not be much more help, but if you give this a go it should hopefully work out well for you.
Regards
Jacob

the mouse movement on the menus is flawless, the frame rate is also reasonable but could use a little improvement if anyone has any suggestions. The only real hinderance to the game play is when i move the mouse horizontally in game, its very jerky. any ideas here too ?
Thanks in advance guys !

Now playing w/ update 11 and Hearthfire installed (which is another issue entirely...More bugs than a roach motel in Philadelphia!). Torched the Ati*.dll but feel the fix must need to come from elsewhere... Bit of a nuisance...

make sure that the same change is made in the %USERPROFILE%/My Documents/My Games/Skyrim/SkyrimPrefs.ini file
Disable the option "bFloatPointRenderTarget" by setting it to 0. Disabling this option fixes a bug where being lit on fire or lighting someone else on fire causes black squares to appear. You can see that the issue does not occur in my video when I use my fire spell.

Anyhow, to the problem at hand: my friends game keeps freezing at the Blade in the Dark quest, when you go talk to delphine at some point. She hasn't told me the exact point but its somewhere around there, is anyone else experiencing this? The rest of her game runs fine, everything works smoothly albeit at lowest graphics possible, its just that specific part it freezes up at. if anyone has any fix please reply or email me at es50678@gmail.com
