The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was quite possibly one of the most highly anticipated games of all time. It was finally released on the 11th of November, 2011. Hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions waited in line to pick up their copy worldwide. Some of these people were there to buy the PC version…and an exponentially smaller amount that were there to buy the PC version didn't even have a PC to play it on. Hours after the game was made available many went to work to create the first fully functional Skyrim for Mac wrapper. Two talented porters and members of the PortingTeam forums, rynotheking14 and danistheman, both released wrapper which suited different crowds. People need variety and these guys fulfilled that need! Both wrappers each have it's own advantage and it's up to the user to verify which will work better for their particular system.

A note from the Skyrim developers

Quote

Like you, we’re fans as well. We simply make the game we’d love to play. The game we’d book vacation time to play. And like you, we’ve waited a long time to see the Elder Scrolls return. Fallout 3 was an amazing experience for us and we learned a lot. In some ways, Skyrim is both our follow up to Oblivion, and our follow up to Fallout 3. Each time we strive to improve on the style of game we enjoy; one where you can be who you want, and do whatever you want.
To do that this time, we knew, like before, we had to start over. We needed to reinvent large parts of the game and its technology. We started with the graphics renderer, and how we would bring the scale of snow covered mountains, dynamic weather systems, and massive dragons to life along with the small details of how people lived; from the forks they used, to the fish they caught, and the meat they cooked. We then rewrote all the major graphics and gameplay systems including lighting, shadows, level of detail, animation, interface, scripting, dialogue, quest systems, melee, magic, and more. All of those changes made it into our internal editor as well. So much had changed that we decided to call the engine and editor by a new name, the Creation Engine and the Creation Kit. We can't wait to see what all the brilliant mod makers do with these tools.
All of this is done to bring epic fantasy to life in a game unlike we've done before. We try to improve each game we do, but we also try to make each stand on its own. For whatever the year, be it 1994 with Arena or 2011 with Skyrim, we try to create something that feels like you're experiencing The Elder Scrolls for the first time, a game that brings to life a new world on your screen, fueling your own imagination with possibility.

The Empire of Tamriel is on the edge. The High King of Skyrim has
been murdered.

Alliances form as claims to the throne are made. In the midst of this conflict, a far more dangerous, ancient evil is awakened. Dragons, long lost to the passages of the Elder Scrolls, have returned to Tamriel.

The future of Skyrim, even the Empire itself, hangs in the balance as they wait for the prophesized Dragonborn to come; a hero born with the power of The Voice, and the only one who can stand amongst the dragons.

Skyrim is also known as the Old Kingdom or the Fatherland, is the home of the Nords. It was the first region of Tamriel to be settled by humans, who migrated there from the land of Atmora in the far north, across the Sea of Ghosts. The date of this migration is unknown, although it was before the full flourishing of Elvish civilization. According to legend, Ysgramor landed first at Hsaarik Head, at the extreme northern tip of Skyrim's Broken Cape. It is said that he and his companions were fleeing the civil war in Atmora, which at that time had a sizable population. They named the land Mereth, after the many elves that roamed the virgin forests of Tamriel.

Im having a problem with the game. I can play it fine, no lag or issues except I for my mouse icon is stuck in the middle of the screen. I can move it around if I go to settings but otherwise it stays as the Mac OS X mouse icon in the middle of the screen.

Does anyone know if you can use the 'mod pack' or whatever it's called, on a Mac? That's really the only reason why I want to buy the computer version. Otherwise, I'll just stick with xbox. - Also would i just buy Skyrim for PC, and run the port?

If someone could let me know, that'd be great.

Thanks.

my problems with it is it lags on low quality could just be my mac and the draw distance cause i see an AI randomly appear while i am walking and i don't know how to change the sensitivity to make my character look up and down faster but i can change it so he can look left and right faster But other than that it works fine

This is the smoothest ride using a cider wrapped on my snow leopard Imac 2011. Best I'm able to use maximum graphics with minimum lag/fps drop. Great Job!

I've been trying for hours now with the cider wrapper. I've tried putting both the uninstalled and installed game files from the disc into the right place, and also the different preferences. But it still won't open. I can't figure out what to do.
