I disagree, it's not quite as simple as that.
There are a lot of people who just want to use the stuff here, and not wanting to get into the porting business themselves. Nobody looks down on anyone here.
There are always a few black sheep in a category, but this shouldn't speak for all of them.

I see the point of the 'register to view downloadlinks' thing.
This mod didn't work so well the last time i tried to install it, there were some errors with the other mods on this board.
However, when we'll switch forums in the future this will be one of the first mods that will be installed.
Also to the recent changes, only people with a 'Newbie' Rank (min. 5 Posts) can make new requests in the Requests section. See announcements.

I agree that, if left "open" for guests to download, you WOULD have leechers - they just don't want to put in the effort (I used to be one, back in my younger days!). I additionally think that making some posts here, BEFORE being allowed to see the "download" link (haha - I haven't seen one yet!) is a good idea. It DOES encourage people to post something, even if it is "+1" type response.
On the other hand, what IS confusing is if there is a restriction as to where (what sub-forum) you have to post in to have the post "count" towards the limit. I've been on some boards that don't count posts in certain sub-forums, which keeps the post count low, and you can't figure it out. Just saying that this isn't spelled out.
I hope to contribute (someday) and will be checking out the "Wineskin Manual" from nintendotoad's post above.
Great site!

It would just cause pointless spam posts to increase, not worth the trouble IMO.

Well, i hope this mod can be installed in the system/board. Looks like the easiest way. I hope that you'll find a solution for those errors. In the meantime, many leechers have to understand nothing is free in internet...
BTW ( boy do i HATE youtube videos w/ downloads links and surveys, i always get "not available in your country )

Does this make me a 'leecher'? Sure, probably. I'm not too concerned with that. What I'd really like is to be able to play my game. I'm no computer expert, so I can't build these things on my own or I certainly would. In fact, I actually have some trouble following some of the instructions for installing some of these mods and changing codecs, etc as I don't know the vocabulary, haha. That said, I'd really like to know more - which is why I bothered to sign up in the first place.
At any rate, I second JustCreepin's post. Not in any rush here. Thanks all!
