Why not use the comments section? Then the information can be of use to other users as well and porters don't have to answer the same thing twice. Or users might find solutions together.

Isn't that what the comments are for? Also, if you message the porter, how are others with the same issue going to resolve the same problem.

yes but I do not notice if someone posted a comment (if you have 20 ports you wont check every day the ports)

Porters should consider “following” all of their ports (in each of your ports' pages, click the “Follow this Port” button) and enabling the appropriate notifications in My Settings -> Notification Options.
That way you'll get an email or an inline forum popup (depending on the setting you choose) whenever a comment is added to one of your ports and you won't miss any.

Maybe we could make it so that when you create a new port entry in the PDB, it automatically makes you follow your port?

Yes, it already is as of last week.
Only those who manually choose not to follow via their notification settings will not get notifications about replies.
Also check your Ports Page for replies (represented by a blue dot)
