I decided to dig out the old Knights of the Old Republic II; The Sith Lords, and that seems to install fine. I am using the GOG version. But when I start it, all the videos come up black. I tried screen settings and config chances and engine changes, but didn't get any movies to show.

I tried and failed similarly with the GOG version of Knight of the Old Republic I.

I know this used to be a problem for lots of games, but I don't recall the solution.

Anyone have a suggestion?

best wishes,
Oscar

I tried this but no luck. I suspected as much, because I could always get the last frame if I clicked on the video while it was running, and the sound worked fine.

So it is probably just drawn to the wrong surface or some such technical issue...

I went looking for a wrapper in the database, but the search function was broken again.

Link in the second one is dead, but the first one works. Thanks for looking for me!

OK I got it sort of working as long as I use the Mac driver and fullscreen. With this wrapper that you linked that has d3dx9 = native and rendered = gdi.

Thanks for the tip!
