Edit: I changed my mind... I'll voted Nvidia. I don't like ATI this year. I added new polls.

i think you mean as a graphic card. Drivers are the things you download that the company creates to help optimize the card overtime.

ATI and Nvidia create very similar cards performance wise but, Nvidia consistently releases drivers every few weeks while ATI takes their time and sometimes their drivers do more harm then good.

I'm for ATI card. I've been using then for a long time and have been very pleased by their performance ever since, but this is on PC, not on Mac. I have GMA X3100 on my hackintosh had I won't vote for this card as my preferring, not sure who would vote for Intel card, here in a gaming forum, though! :)

You can go to the apple menu and choose "about this mac" and then "more info"
Depending on the age of your white macbook you'll either have Intel GMA950, Intel X3100, Nvidia 9400M or Nvidia 320M (arranged from worst to best).

I haven't had an ATI/AMD card since Rage Pro 128, after that I've had nvidia Geforce 4MX, FX5200, 8600M GT, 9800GT, GT330M and GTX285.

Nvidia have usually had best compatibility with Wine/Cider tho.

Nividia For the win . My opinion may be biased cause i haven't used a ati card since 2003. But from experience on my  computer and computers i have Tried Out . Nividia Performs better then Ati mostly cause nvidia is mostly focused on GPUs  while Ati which is a division of AMD and is a company that focuses on much more then gpus  . AMD tends to have cheaper products but don't perform well against their competition .

The perfect combo is
Intel Processor + Nividia Graphics Card = :wub:

I've never been really fond of nVidia (and the last nVidia card I bought was a TNT2 Model64 a loong time ago).  Since then I've only used ATI cards on my desktop machines (Radeon 9200/Radeon x1600/Radeon HD 4850) - and Intel on laptops (GMA950/HD 3000).  I'm not much of a gamer, and I don't care much about gaming performance (you can see that clearly from my laptop choices), but ATI cards (except for the old 9200 that lacked a fan, fixed by adding a Pentium 1 fan to it :D) never gave me any stability issues, unlike some nVidia cards.

NVIDIA GeForce all the way! I have bad memories of ATI cards, though I heard they got better. I'm sticking with my GTX 285. Don't think there is any new card for mac that beats it yet when it comes to gaming. (Though if there is, I'd gladly like to know)

I'd have to go with ATI, though I've used both NVIDIA and ATI. ATI probably just because my NVIDIA is only 256mb mobile and the ATI I used was 512mb VRAM on a desktop computer. NVIDIA burn up, but ATI are slow to update.

If your using MS Windows... ATIs are fine, but for OSX, an Linux, ATI basically sucks... way too many driver problems, they are really very poor cards.  If they had proper driver support they would be awesome.  Many ATI cards that are faster than an nvidia in Windows, run like half the speed in Linux just because of the bad drivers.  OSX drivers are a bit better but still very problematic, not only to Wine, but to anything.  Most game and software makers designed directly for OSX put work around code for ATI problems into the games so people don't notice them, but rarely have to do anything for nvidia, they just work.

Such a shame apple have gone a whole generation now without any NVidia in the line up. I'm afraid that NVIdia might drop the whole platform if Apple continues to ignore them. Apple will need to include NVidia in either the MBP or iMac series next generation, or I guess NVidia looses it's interests in the Mac platform.

I've heard so much rumors, even AMD APUs.
The best would be to have AMD CPU with the built-in 65xx on lowend and Intel IB+NVidia on 15/17.
(Heard rumors that 17 is discontinued too).

As far as I've heard AMD did get both next gen xbox and ps4, so I guess NVidia really needs to sell some GPUs on the mac side.
People might think MacBooks are small numbers compared to PC, but a since I've heard rumors that about 75% of all notebooks today uses built in GPUs, so Apple has quite some marketshare on middle end GPU laptops.

The reason is simple, keep both AMD and NVidia. If Apple only buys from one, then the other one wouldn't care about macs, and if suddenly one makes a much better product, well then Apple might have chosen "the wrong horse".

Nvidia has been Apple's choice for MBP since 2007, except the 67xx ones from 2011.
MBP graphics:
2006-> AMD (Ati x1600)
2007-> NVidia (8600)
2009-> NVidia (9600/9400)
2010-> NVidia (320/330)
2011-> AMD (6490/6750/6770)
2012-> ??? (Nvidia 640/650? or AMD 7600/7700?)

If the next-gen MBPs have NVIDIAs I'd be happy and mad.
Happy cause Apple switched back to NVIDIA.
Mad because I've got no money to afford one.

Yeah, i reckon the price is probably the only reason they use ATI (same as the xbox 720's reasons probably). Oh, it would be fantastic if they where to release an iMac with a GTX 680.. or even a MacPro with a GTX 690... :o

I was up for any ATi in the past, never gave me problems before, but nowadays i feel nVIDIA is offering better support than AMD for Mac and Linux.

How can you possibly avoid Intel hd 3000 , when intel builds it into their processors. ( well at least their retail versions of the processor. )

You don't have to use it tho, if you have a dedicated chip too.

You don't have to use it tho, if you have a dedicated chip too.
I know that .. i am just pointing out that you can't avoid buying a intel hd 3000 if it comes built into your processor.
Unless you get a AMD   processor , which we all know will do you no good :D

Maybe apple switches to AMD on low end hardware.
CPU power on 13 inch MBP and MBA is always plentiful (imo) but GPU ain't.
The AMD CPUs with integrated 6550 and 6530 is actually pretty sweet.
They are no match for the 6750/6770M, but compared to 320M and IntelHD that 13 inters and MBA have had, it's a killer!

The problem AMD has going for it is overall power usage.  Apple doesn't stick with Intel because of performance, but because of power usage and heat production.  AMD has some problems competing with low power CPUs, and in really high performance CPUs, but overall they are a good option.
