Hello people, I've just laid my hands on a copy of Saints Row The Third (A pre-cracked repack)
PS. I bought the retail, CD XBOX 360 version though ;)

So now I'm trying to port it on Wineskin 1.3.32, and I'm facing some difficulties in doing so.
Therefore I'm requesting for the help of fellow porters in this community to chip in and help to get this game working... Don't know if this is the way that things are done here or even if it's okay to do so but I'm just trying to get the game working.
So I've installed Steam and DirectX9 in the Wineskin wrapper and placed the game files installed through Windows in the wrapper. I have no idea if it's just the copy of the game I'm having, or Wineskin, but there is an error everytime I'm starting the game. I took a look at teh logs, and got this (I'm running the game from what I think is the DirectX9 game executable and not through Steam) :
Spoiler

So, in order to get the game working, I'm requesting the help of you guys to chip in your wide expanse of porting knowledge... I'll definitely include your name in the credits for helping!
Thanks in advance, and may we succeed! :D

From the look of the top bit in the log, Wine doesn't know what to make of your graphics chip. What kind of system are you using (CPU, Graphics, OSX version)?

Even Saints Row 2 is "garbage" per WineHQ
http://appdb.winehq.... ... &iId=17457

how about you DON'T install DirectX, & set DirectDrawRenderer=gdi instead?HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D\ DirectDrawRenderer

Oh well. Starting to think that it might not be possible at all.
Running DDR=gdi, I get this, but I think it's still pretty much the same log as last time.

Oh well. But I'm still keeping this project open to other porters, so that they can offer their suggestions and stuff.
Just in case it might work.

Well, now at least I can say I tried. A new game in teh series, a new start for that game. Thanks! :)
This doesn't really mean the end of this topic... Feel free to post more suggestions and comments!

Just going to point out, and maybe you already knew this, but Saints Row The Third uses DirectX 11 which is not compatible with Wine, so if you can find a way to work around or disable it, it may work.

Aha, I do know that it uses DirectX 11, but as I mentioned, I am trying to run the DirectX 9 version, which is the minimum requirement. DirectX 11 is the recommended requirement.

......dam, I'm guessing someone will do it eventually, maybe when the new wine comes out with new support for directX 10 and (possibly) 11.... Now we wait

SR3 is quite a heavy game on win7.
Before I upgraded I had a 4.0GHz Core 2 Duo + GTX285 and when I pulled on you tons of enemies the FPS went way down to like 30.
After I changed the 4GHz Core 2 Dou with an 4.3GHz i5 I manage to keep around 60 FPS when I'm swarmed by enemies.

You need a quad core to run this well, even in windows.
