Mass Effect 1 on Lion

So I'm a complete noob at.. well any of this, Mass Effect was the first game I tried as a post but it's not even launching. I click it, the icon shows and it closes - I get no error message at all.
So, to specify, I downloaded the Mass Effect for mac torrent on demonoid that linked to this place. As I think I understand now, it's in a CX wrapper and I'm running Lion, so that won't work at all? I don't know what other info I have to provide, so please let me know and I'll reply.
I don't know if the info I gave at sign up is visible for everyone, so I have:
OSX Lion 10.7.2
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256MB
4GB memory and 2.53 Core 2 Duo
^mentioning in case the specs simply aren't good enough to play it.
Basically, I was hoping if anyone could help me figure out how to get this game to play.
Thanks for your time and hopefully your help.
Cheers.
edit: and I just realized I probably should have put this in game ports (the "I'm new" and "don't really have a clue what's going on" applied so I thought I was in the right place). I don't wanna be an annoyance and post this twice, so my apologies and hopefully it can be moved if that's the case.

That the CX wrapper will not run at lion is correct. Normaly you could use this wrapper http://portingteam.c...dlc-compatible/ but the problem, the wrapper got lost because of megaupload. So the only way for u, is in the moment to try to port it with Wineskin yourself.
Importent is that you don't delete the CX wrapper yet. U need it later.
First of all u have to lode WineskinWinery -> http://wineskin.doh1...?page=Downloads
If u have installed it download the newest WIne engine (should be 1.3.37)
and if u did this take a look here -> http://wineskin.doh1...neskin wrappers
If u did all the stuff write a message here again and we will see how far the wrapper is then.

you can grab a working wrapper from here and copy the gamefiles from your version in there.
cybershark: it's possible that there are a bunch of issues with mass effect with a wrapper from scratch. mouse will propably not work correctly.
there is a existing pre configures wrapper in this forum already. tinpopo you should use this one. except you know how to patch wine engines
The Longest Journey, The Lost Crown, Culpa Innata, Two Worlds, Anachronox, Sega Rally (Revo), Insane 2, Destruction Derby 2, TribesNext (Tribes 2)

I'll download that wrapper and will report back. Have to wait 35 minutes cause with MU down and other servers chickening out, I've been using depositfiles for quite a bit hah.
I'll probably find out once I got the download completed and unpacked, but is there any challenge or know-how in terms of which files need to be replaced/moved/deleted?
Thanks again!

The torrent I got is like a game app - then when I select show contents there's a bunch of stuff, including the c_folder>program files> mass effect you mentioned. I copied that to the same folder as the wrapper and it just said error said EXE not found.
edit: to clear up as to what exactly I did, hopefully I make sense (cause I don't make sense to myself hah):
show package contents > contents:
CXCustomEXEMaker, CXInstaller, CXregedit, CXwinecfg, CXwinetricks, MacOS, Resources, SharedSupport and root
root > dosdevices, drive_c, system.reg, user.reg, userdef.reg
drive_c > Program Files, users, windows, winetrickstmp
Program Files > Common Files, CXZApplication, Internet Explorer, Netscape
CXZApplication > [Mass Effect] -- this is the folder I copied, it contains:
Binaries, BioGame, data, DLC, docs, Engine, MassEffectLauncher.exe, saferun.dll, saferun.exe
I put the wine wrapper -inside- the folder with the rest. Then I ran it and got the above mentioned error.
I didn't check any other folders I mentioned... This is basically all I can tell you.

EDIT:
Okay, let me think about it. lets go a few steps back. first of all take the mass effect folder again and put it on the desktop. And now step for step.
right click on the wine wrapper u just downloaded and click show package. navigate: c_drive->program files-> ..... (put the mass effect folder here, nothing else)
If u did this close the window. now hold the alt key and double click the .app
Click on advanced and a window will open.
In the middle is a path to the game exe. the easiest way is to click the button right to the text line and search the path for the launcher in the mass effect folder u added.
after that click on the test run button. If it crashes u will get a log. Post this log here.

Ok, did that fine.

That didn't happen. The screen went black, saw a picture of the game and then the screen went white and I got "General Protection fault! History: Adress = 0x10bd422b (filename not found)[in Program Files/Mass Effect/Binaries/MassEffect.exe]
Address = 0x245c8b53
edit: all that alt-double click seems to do for me for anything is close the window and open the program btw.
