Hey everyone,

I have been playing around a bit with the Wineskin 2.5.4 beta 1 and I have to say it seems a bit wobbly.

I tried running Dragon Age Origins with it and I noticed that it sometimes lose my virtual desktop settings in between restarts. So one start it neatly goes to VD, then on restarting after a crash, it goes into full-screen.

Any suggestions? I can send logs if need be.

Best wishes,
Oscar

I believe beta 2.5.3 is out: http://www.mediafire...zgrcu2ikv633dvg
Also, why not just use 2.5? It works great.

Because Dragon Age: Origins is crashing on me and I want it working. I got a backtrace that says:

0x18017a54: movl    %esi,0x0(%ecx)

and in my wine.log I found

err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x43355834 "x11drv_main.c: X11DRV_CritSection" wait timed out in thread 0033, blocked by 002c, retrying (60 sec)

and in my windowmanager log I found

you can move it back to 2.5.3 and see if it works...

2.5.4beta1 I haven't had time to work on in awhile, but it has a totally new build of WineskinX11 in it over 2.5.3, which is using a beta xorg-server.  FYI WineskinX11 is the built in XQuartz build.

The error I noted above was with 2.5.3 :). I will reinstall 2.5.4beta1 and try again later.

You shouldn't be able to lose your virtual desktop, unless your trying to set it in winecfg... which you shouldn't do with Wineskin.

@Clutzh: that would be nice, thanks :).

@doh123: well, I set it in Wineskin, so something was definitely wrong. But I also had the problem that trying to update an existing wrapper to the beta, the wrapper would crash. Perhaps it did not update all files properly and something went wrong there that carried over to operating it.

Some of the older wrappers will not update correctly, because the updater in Wineskin.app doesn't know how to do it, and I haven't fixed a better way to update.

Right now the safest way to update is to update once, then update again a second time forcing a second update.

Perhaps some sort of manifest file in the new version to indicate what files need to go where? Or have wineskin run an update script contained in the new version rather than the old one (but then downgrading becomes an issue)?

Best wishes,
Oscar

Oki here is the wrapper.
It's just cleaned out my gamefiles.
I used steam version with revloader, so you might have to change path in XWrapper unless you use steam version with loader.
There is also a launcher button for the launcher, and for a app that updates DLC, they might or might not work on your version, sometimes you might have to enable DLC by manually edit configs.
(Awakening is only expansion you should need imho and the small DLC are just a waste of time in my opinion..)

If you have difficulties enabling them, I can see if I can find the info again, but I don't have it on the top of my head which files that needed to be edited and where they are.

I know the manifest files that need to be edited. I planned to use the DVD installer version, so I will have to muck about a bit.

Thanks :)
