DC Universe Online (DCUO)

Windows packages installed -
IE 7 from winetricks (dlls)
VCrun2008 from winetricks (dlls)
ddr=gdi from winetricks (settings)
DCUO_setup.exe, let DCUO Installer install Direct X and Flash
After installing the above the Launcher starts and downloads the 18 gigabytes of game files. Everything on the launcher looks exactly the same as under Windows. One note though, the configuration app (click the green button with the hammer & wrench and choose 'game configuration') does not start properly, it asks for .net 3.5 which it will not install from the launcher. After installing .net 3.5 via winetricks the app still crashes out. Not a deal breaker but worth mentioning.
After the game finishes downloading and you click the green Play button the screen switches resolutions like it's going to start properly. All I get is a black screen with no sound or video. I tried this with engine version WS8Wine1.4-rc5 (newest available) first. When it didn't work I google'd for information and found reference to a Linux user getting DCUO to work using Wine 1.3.32. I installed engine version WS8Wine1.3.32 but the end result was a crashing launcher at startup.
I also tried different configurations of virtual desktop and windowed/fullscreen options to no avail.
Port Link in the Port Database:

Hackintosh - i7 CPU @ 4.6GHz -16GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6870 1GB video card
and
iMac 24' 3.06 C2Duo - 4GB - geforce 130

DC Universe Online
cause dc universe runs on unreal engine 3 and wine has very minimal compatibility for unreal engine 3.
I suggest you dual boot into win7 if you really want to play dc universe.
Or wait for a newer version of wine

Agreed, but I'm sure compatibility with UE3 will eventually get better. Until then I'll just boot into Win7 when I wanna play.
Not giving up though

Oh, and it worked straight out of the download?
Or did you have to do something to it?
Because 2 people can't get it working on Lion:
slavezeo and lisapower
They have Lion OSX 10.7.3. What's yours? Do you have a different version?

Dunno what KGameLover1 did with the wrapper to have it work on Lion. Try asking him.

But we don't know what kind of Lion version KGameLover1 have? most reports tells you that on Lion 10.7.3 there is no go, maybe on 10.7.1 or 10.7.2 it will work, don't know.

UE3 support is pretty good now, except lacking xi2 support that can be fixed.
All Mass Effects run on UE3 f.ex.
Cider does actually have very good UE3 support with games like Mirrors Edge and Borderlands running almost flawless.
I do believe DCUO needs a launcher, so I guess that leaves cider out.
