It's offline news but still I thought it might interest those of you who are customers and haven't seen the news in the last week.

Note to all with outstanding giftcards/reward cards with points on, for both GAME and Gamestation, they are no longer valid. Remains to be seen what will happen with the GameStation ones but I think its safe to say GAME are wiping support of theirs for good.

Personally I'm not surprised, Amazon, eBay, Torrents, Play.com... they're wiping the use of high street stores like GAME totally off the map. Woolworths got it. Waterstones is getting it. It was only a matter of time.

According to the news they have left 333 stores open and closed the other 277. My guess is they've only closed the ones nearby a GameStation or in places of minimal revenue in comparison. I hope they don't try and pull what Zavvi did with Virgin Megastores. It won't work.

I wouldnt be so sure about that. Retail stores stil have a place, especially for children and people who are not what we would consider "gamers". Game's downfall seems rather to be from poor management and business decisions since other stores don't seem to have problems. Of course those responsible would rather blame it on the economy than admit their own failure.
Games I own that still need porting:
Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, Descent 3, Fallout, Space Rangers 2
