Hey,
I don't know to much about how porting games and using wineskin really work yet. Im a newbie to this. But i downloaded Fallout NewVegas and when i first started playing it, it was fine and running well then after i exit out of the app and load it up the next day this message showed up and said, "error! launching wineserver failed. no new wineserver PID found!". So i would really like some assistance on how to fix this issue. I love what you guys have done to port games for mac and i really want to play fallout New Vegas badly!!!! Thanks

if you downloaded the torrent thats been floating around of the full game already ported, it does this for a lot of people... I don't think it was ported well.  Your better off using a wrapper form here and supplying the game yourself

I know this error will also occur if there are other instances of wine that are running in the background.

I hope that's not my full version...is it done up in a custom New Vegas folder with the radiomadman mod installed?

Did the game you are referring to that is failing come in a folder that looks like this one?

This is the first I've been made aware of the issue.

If it's the torrent that is on piratebay it's my first(!!) port of the game, with wine 1.3.4 and a pretty old version of wineskin. Not stable at all, better try using the most recent wrapper in the port database.

Edit: and, no, I didn't post it there or created the distro. Someone else took the wrapper from here and built it.

Play.com? Local store? Steam? Amazon?

You can buy the pc version and use a wrapper from the ports database. The wrapper basically works around the problem of not having a PC. You can install your PC game in the wrapper and play from there.
Read around the forum a bit, there are many instructions and tutorials of what this site is about and how stuff work

Yes it should but better check in the comments of the game you are interested in first. I personally don't use steam that much, as I prefer having hard copies for my games, but I know that someone posted that Fallout works for steam versions as well.

Why would you want to go through the whole process of porting a game, that is also not that easy to port, when there's a really good wrapper for it posted in the database? Just install steam through winetricks and then install the game through there.
Fn+double click on the wrapper > advanced > tools > winetricks.
It's that easy
