Now that v3.3 is up . The shout box now has its own tab. And every time someone posts in the shout box a red box appears beside the shout box tab notifying you.
the problem is that is that when you visit the shoutbox and you read the new posts. and go back to main page. The notification red box is still there and doesn't go away even if you refresh browser, Log out log back in , or visit a new page.
Its annoying .

My suggestion would be just to fix this issue or just get rid of the red notification box

Do you mean Shoutbox System can count members online on Shoutbox?

I think you're right.

I believe that it is helpful for people who want to ask for help or want a friendly chat.
Well, maybe not exactly helpful, but it's useful and handy.

Couldn't the mods make it as an option in the Notification Settings?

I should look into hat, but - if its possible to do it - it would probably be in the profile settings rather than in the notification settings (it's technically not a notification)

Haha i always tough it was a bug too. XD
So is about users online... haha ok.

I do think is useless to know if there is anyone watching the shoutbox. Or i don't understand the meaning of it.
So if there is someone online i ask and if there is none i don't?  o_O

I'm surprised that this isn't as obvious as it should be.
The red indicator on the Shoutbox Tab is the number of People who recently clicked the Shoutbox Tab or made a shout there either there or in the Forum index in the last 3 Minutes.

This helps people see that there are new shouts there and reduces the 'hey xyz, are you there?' shouts

I guess we're all used to our iDevices where a red badge on the top right of something means you have something new to check out.. I thought it was a bug, too!

Yeah, me too. I don't have an iDevice but even on Mac OS X a red thing with a number attached to an icon means there is something new to check out. Maybe it would be less confusing if you made the box green?
Games I own that still need porting:
Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, Descent 3, Fallout, Space Rangers 2

It would be less confusing, but also absolutely less striking and that i don't think is a good idea for an already forgotten shoutbox.
The fact is i (and maybe you guys too) actually hit on "Shoutbox" tab just because it has a red mark on it. I think either leaving it as is or changing its actual function (to show new shouts instead of recently readers) are the best ways to go.
