I can't remember if there was one on the old site, but I think that it would be easy for people to just look at their RSS feed and see that a new port is there.

I'm already working on a RSS for new and updated ports, it'll be available to the public someday soon.

EDIT: it seems to work nicely. It's only ports right?
The only thing I'm missing i that it only says what's been updated and when. It would be good if you could get it to show the port page too.

Oops. I removed the (unused) calendar feed. I don't even know why it was enabled to begin with, probably some default we've overlooked.
Since I was at it, I added an Announcements feed, showing new topics from the Announcements section.

New Ports only: http://portingteam.com/rss/new
New and Updated Ports: http://portingteam.com/rss/updates
Once I'm done testing those two, I'll set up the http://portingteam.com/rss to be a mirror of http://portingteam.com/rss/updates (right now that one is still using the old template)

the feed becomes to heavy with that much info and pictures in them.

I'll probably be reducing the amount of text included in the description exported through RSS to a reasonable size (i.e. first 1000 or 2000 characters or something like that), since it now includes the entire description. No time to dig into the IPB documentation this week, to check how to do so without breaking the formatting, but I'll work on it next week.
I'll take any feedback about bugs or suggestions on info to include/omit from the feed entries.
