When I'll have more time, I will look for means how to make a wrapper (currently the game is launched from web browser, which may cause troubles).

(I'm only lvl 23 atm).
I'm only playing it a bit on and off with a friend a few hours now and then, but it's a nice game you get for free!
I will perhaps try out Aion one day, but not now

Aion runs pretty fine (20fps (ingisson fortress) 50fps (below ingisson) on medium-high details), on High graphic engine it fails to render ground (sand storm effect), on default engine, no glitches.
Settings for EU server:
Windows exe: /Program Files/Gameforge/AION Free-To-Play/bin32/aion.bin
EXE Flags: -ip:79.110.83.80 -port:2106 -lang:enu -cc:2 -noauthgg -noweb
this way game will run and be able to connect to eu servers. (if patched to current version).
the launcher gives me a headache... I will try to get it running directly in wine (should fix most the issues) but currently it does not seem good (fails with error while contacting server).
Another way would be make something like custom patch server, but it will require for someone to always upload new files when update available...
Or 3rd way - reverse engeneer the launcher, and make custom launcher which will download the files from official server.
Anyway i tryed EU version only (2.7.0.3)... The NA version have diffierent launcher.

The bit of info is from 2009, but it might still be like that. Have you tried starting the BITS service in wine while the updater is running? (assuming it uses a version of BITS that's supported by wine, that is)
Thanks for the info, hopefully this will help me to get this working. Anyway, linux users have no problems to get it working, I still have a few thing to try before giving up.
