they said that no third part game developer is going to work with unofficial porters.
especially they will never give you early copies ( a lot of legal stuff to do with that)

if they see a watermark about portingteam, I doubt they will sign up, well maybe but they will think this site is a warez / torrent site. so its best if we dont do this.

Bad idea. Also ports are posted by individuals not the porting team. So how would you suggest watermarking ports happen on a large scale. I already put the porting team logo in my dosbox ports and in my wineskin ports the wineskin.app is modified if custom backgrounds and porting team logos.
But still this is a bad idea ;D

Don't need to go public. I'm fine with the current status of portingteam. Keeps me happy.

Agreed. When official ports are made, all people do is complain about the port/game... The same would happen if PT where to release official ports (as consumers dont really seem to give a crap who ported official games any more). They care about the price and how long it takes to download the game and not who it was ported by or even how they ported it... Basically, the work and time taken to port games will not be appreciated THEN as it is currently being appreciated NOW as a community.

Btw, did none of you ever checked out CXEx?
I've basically built it with custom launchers, game startup screens, porting team startup screen.
Every port with CXEx had this.
Currently i'm getting 90% of CXEx' features into Wineskin.
If that doesn't count as an intro then i don't know...

But most won't, People are lazy.
If its already compressed and uploaded, and probably has a nice eye-candy mounted dmg archive, these almost always end up as they are on other sites, without tinkering.

Unless the Porting Team turns into a real company there is no way any company would ever contact us. Of course anyone of us could do that, Wineskin is already being used for commercial ports, the only problem is gettign the meoney to start the business and being able to provide quality ports (and being able to support the newest customerunfriendly DRM)

Lots of stuff runs in Cider, as we know from experience.
But transgaming is not getting Game licensing for Ports from EA and others.
The mac's usual crappy implementation of OpenGL and the missing DirectX (for easy native portability), and the very very smal market share make these companies not look twice.
Codeweaver's official porting business is also not exactly popular. Has something to do with a lot of things, like huge porting fees from Codeweavers to buyers, and the general mac mind share that non-native Ports are crap.
Just read different mac forums.
Cider Ports are crap and Wine Ports even worse.
Looking at the crappy support these companies give the use4rs after they bought the Wine/Cider Port, it's not surprising.

Not really. Once the file is copied/downloaded to another computer, the Permissions you set in the cmd-i window have no longer any meaning. Or even if they did, any Administrator user on any other computer would be able to unlock them.

I guess porting team had to be a registered company.
We would also have to provide support and testing on many systems.
Also, we do have many good porters, but on many issues we would have to burden very few of our members, because most here do only have limited experiences with porting (no offense!!).
