Installing mods for the mac port in the same as on windows (not all mods will work but that should be easy to decipher). Mods are install usually by dropping the contents of the mod into the data folder of the fallout new vegas folder. If its a wineskin wrapper you right click the wrapper and select show package contents and make your way to <drive_c/ Program Files/ Fall out new vegas/ data> and drop the contents of the mod in there and activate the esp in the launcher. If you can't activate it with the launcher you can create a normal text document and all it "Same title as mod.nam". In the text file you can just put the name of the mod or a simple shortened version of the mod and save it. This file should load the esp automatically on game startup. Installing mods in a cider wrapper should be the same just right click show package contents and locate the data folder again in <contents/ resources/ transgaming/ c_drive/ Program files/ Fallout new vegas/ data/> and create that nam file.

Are you making your own wrapper? There is a wrapper in the port database that works 100%. You don't need to run the wineskin app inside the wrapper to install the mods.

I'm a bit confused about your topic now...If I'm reading this right you don't even have the ported game on your mac. Well then you need to get the windows version of the game from steam or disk...or ya know. Then head over here and download the wrapper. Installation instructions for the wrapper are in the wrapper topic but more info on how to use wrappers can be found here. Once you have it all setup and running modding is just as I said in the second post.

I told you what to do with the game after you get it from steam...its a windows game of course its not mac compliant and it shouldn't launch at all. The game files are saved in <Macintosh HD/ Users/ USERNAME/ Library/ Application Support/ Steam/ SteamApps/ common/ fallout new vegas> You will need this script to show the Library folder in your username directory. Then just follow the tutorial and you should be good.

To show your user folder simply hold alt and select "go" in the menubar and Library should show up.
No need to download external scrips to show the folder permanently,
just open terminal and type:
chflags nohidden Library/
then hit enter

All you do is download the fallout new vegas wrapper, download the game via steam, get the game files and put it in the wrapper, download the latest no cd crack and apply to game files and thats it. Then mod away. I've been trying to tell you this from the first post.

oh god...sorry about that :D

You said you were trying to get steam to launch in the wrapper? I would avoid that as its not totally reliable so thats where a no cd crack comes in...the no cd crack bypasses the steam loader and allows the game to launch without steam. A no cd crack can be found on any torrent site. The most reliable ones for this game would probably be made by skidrow. To get the skidorw crack just search for "fallout new vegas skidrow update" and find the latest one. Now that you know what a no cd crack is the rest is a bit easier. Ok now that you know where to get the fallout new vegas files on your computer from the steamapps folder all you have to do is drag the fallout new vegas folder from the steamapps folder to your desktop and open the fallout new vegas wrapper from the port database. To open the wrapper you right click on the wrapper and select show package contents and locate <drive_c/ Program Files/ DROP FALLOUT NEW VEGAS FOLDER HERE> and without closing this window locate the skidrow update you downloaded and find the crack inside. The crack should look like FalloutNV.exe, FalloutNVLauncher.exe and a steam_api.dll and maybe another file not sure as I haven't cracked fallout nv for a long time. Just drag the contents of the crack into the fallout new vegas folder you dragged into the wrapper and overwrite if it asks you to and it should be ready to play when you do the following tweaks in the fallout new vegas topic here.

no the crack will not revival the game in the mac steam client or in the steamapps folder...if you follow what I said I told you to go get the files from the steamapps folder and put it in the wrapper with the crack...your mac WILL NOT PLAY IT if its not in a wrapper.

It could be possible...but I don't think you could miss deleting the files as the fallout new vegas folder has like 20 files in the main folder.

Hello everyone, I am actually trying to play the game with mods but for some reason when I start the game up, i look at data files and I see the mods i placed in but when i check the little box, it does not want to stay checked and thus does not load in the game. Not entirely sure whats causing it but I have followed the steps provided by GameGuy but still nothing, can anyone help? I have fallout 3 for my mac as well and it loads up mods no problem. If it helps, WIneskin 2.0 Beta 5.4 Wrapper is the version of the game I was able to find online.

You might have to edit your plugins.txt manually so that things load properly. To be honest I don't know where the plugins.txt is so you might have to do a little searching.

Darn, I was hoping you wouldn't say that. Time for me to go hunting, I will come back if i find anything for the location to help others. Thanks for the help GameGuy! Greatly appreciate it.

Edit: Alright ladies and gentlemen, I found the plugins text. Right click fallout and click show package contents>contents>resources>drive c>users>wineskin>localsettings>applicationdata>FalloutNV
IF you have a file named plugins.txt good, if not make one and make sure it looks like this:

# This file is used by Fallout NV to keep track of your downloaded content.
# Please do not modify this file.
FalloutNV.esm

If you can't add mods through selecting data files, then just add the mod name underneath the fallout esm. Example:

# This file is used by Fallout NV to keep track of your downloaded content.
# Please do not modify this file.
FalloutNV.esm
autoalienblasterv2.esp

So far the mods load up and work fine for me. The data files even showed them as checked! Be sure to have the file as a .txt or it won't be read, as simple as just saving the file and then renaming it to have a .txt extension and your computer may ask if you want to use .txt so be sure to say yes. Have fun with this amazing game everyone! Thank you again GameGuy! :)

the mod i want to install says i need to tick it in the files section of the launcher, know a way i can access the launcher? mine is a wrapper, wineskin. ported.

[update]

stuff the launcher, ive been trying to install readius's pipboy for ages. i just cant get it working, when i install it it just shows my hand not the device, if i use console to equip a pipboy, it puts one on my wrist! its meant to override the original pipboy.

go into the wrapper and run wineskin. From there go to advanced and look for the exe directory and change it to falloutnvlauncher.exe Then when you launch the wrapper there will be a launcher that will allow you to select the data tab and manage mods. If I remember correctly doesn't the wrapper come with fomm installed? Link to the wrapper your using would help.
