No need to download external scrips to show the folder permanently,
just open terminal and type:
chflags nohidden Library/
then hit enter

You said you were trying to get steam to launch in the wrapper? I would avoid that as its not totally reliable so thats where a no cd crack comes in...the no cd crack bypasses the steam loader and allows the game to launch without steam. A no cd crack can be found on any torrent site. The most reliable ones for this game would probably be made by skidrow. To get the skidorw crack just search for "fallout new vegas skidrow update" and find the latest one. Now that you know what a no cd crack is the rest is a bit easier. Ok now that you know where to get the fallout new vegas files on your computer from the steamapps folder all you have to do is drag the fallout new vegas folder from the steamapps folder to your desktop and open the fallout new vegas wrapper from the port database. To open the wrapper you right click on the wrapper and select show package contents and locate <drive_c/ Program Files/ DROP FALLOUT NEW VEGAS FOLDER HERE> and without closing this window locate the skidrow update you downloaded and find the crack inside. The crack should look like FalloutNV.exe, FalloutNVLauncher.exe and a steam_api.dll and maybe another file not sure as I haven't cracked fallout nv for a long time. Just drag the contents of the crack into the fallout new vegas folder you dragged into the wrapper and overwrite if it asks you to and it should be ready to play when you do the following tweaks in the fallout new vegas topic here.

Edit: Alright ladies and gentlemen, I found the plugins text. Right click fallout and click show package contents>contents>resources>drive c>users>wineskin>localsettings>applicationdata>FalloutNV
IF you have a file named plugins.txt good, if not make one and make sure it looks like this:
# This file is used by Fallout NV to keep track of your downloaded content.
# Please do not modify this file.
FalloutNV.esm
If you can't add mods through selecting data files, then just add the mod name underneath the fallout esm. Example:
# This file is used by Fallout NV to keep track of your downloaded content.
# Please do not modify this file.
FalloutNV.esm
autoalienblasterv2.esp
So far the mods load up and work fine for me. The data files even showed them as checked! Be sure to have the file as a .txt or it won't be read, as simple as just saving the file and then renaming it to have a .txt extension and your computer may ask if you want to use .txt so be sure to say yes. Have fun with this amazing game everyone! Thank you again GameGuy!

the mod i want to install says i need to tick it in the files section of the launcher, know a way i can access the launcher? mine is a wrapper, wineskin. ported.
[update]
stuff the launcher, ive been trying to install readius's pipboy for ages. i just cant get it working, when i install it it just shows my hand not the device, if i use console to equip a pipboy, it puts one on my wrist! its meant to override the original pipboy.
