Hi, guys! I just tried to port Morrowind on my MBA mid 2011. I used Wineskin 2.5.5 and Engine 1.4.1NoXInput2. The game runs perfect (I mean FPS, cursor behavior) but there is one problem: the NPC's models are displaying incorrect. Just look at the screenshots:

DirectX didn't help as well as disabling shadering.
What could it be?

P.S. I used OS X 10.8 DP4, but the problem remains on Lion 10.7.4 too.

Morrowind is a old game . These errors are probably related to the engine you are using . Appdb has a gold rating for this game under 1.1.35 . Try that engine .
Also maybe you should look into this project here : http://openmw.org/en/
its called open morrowind and even though its still in beta . Its a much better solution to Wine :D

Thank you. But 1.1.35 doesn't solve the problem... I just miss something important...

I use Intel HD 3000. Unfortunately I can't test the port under another card.
I also have CiderX port, which I made 1 year ago on another computer - and it runs perfect without any issues. But now it's very important to launch the game using Wine.
I tried different versions of the game, but there is no difference...

you already tried the old Wine build, so most of the things I would say to try won't help... but you can try setting ddr to gdi in Winetricks... installing d3dx9 dll files... maybe try several of the Direct3D settings available in Winetricks...

Nothing helps... Or maybe I do something wrong.

I tried it with those engines you emntioned and it looked fine on my 9400M out of the box, the problem seems to be your graphics card. Have you tried a model and texture replacement mod?

Really? It runs moslty fine on my 9400M, but sometimes in the town the framerate drops below 30 and makes my cursor really slow, really makes the game unenjoyable that way.

OpenMW is really cool, but the lack of, you know, gameplay takes out some of the fun in my opinion :D

No. I tried only vanilla versions (Morrowind and then - MTB with the last patch).

Really?
Yeah, really)
As for cursor, the 1.4.1NoXInput2 solves the problem. Sometimes it moves slow only in main menu (never in game).

Maybe... But the main goal is not to play Morrowind but to work with some construction tools and test some mods. OpenMW and CiderX version don't suite my requirements.

OpenMW will have its own editor and will be compatible with alle existing and future mods, so if you know programming I suggest you hop over there and help out ;) Seriously though, I see what you mean, but I would use the CS on Windows, in Wine it was never working right for me. It's also rated garbage at the AppDB:

The menu is what is annoying me, it's just so uncomfortable to do anything in the interface, I stopped playing. Maybe I'll install it in Windows when I feel like playing again.

The developers of OpenMW have done a great job. But I have to say that a lot of job should be done in future. I mean scripts, dialogs system, names, some in-game functions, etc. So I cannot test required mods.
Tools for merging (like TESTool) work in Wineskin. As for TES CS, it runs quite good for me in Crossover.

By the way, if you have no problems with your graphic card like me, try Crossover: I didn't mentioned any troubles with the mouse during testing.

I'm having this same exact problem. Same graphics card and everything. At first I thought it might have been a bad install, but that proved to not be the case. What frustrates me the most is that the game runs so smoothly and flawlessly, aside from the blown apart body models. I've tried using replacement textures with the Better Bodies Mod and some clothing replacements, but that didn't seem to do it either.

I wouldn't imagine that it's something that can't be fixed. Perhaps the FPS Optimizer? Some other replacement meshes or textures? Something?? I'm pretty much stumped at this point.

I'm having the same exact problem. I waited hours for Morrowind to finish downloading, and then I waited longer to install certain mods before I started playing. I was horrified when I started a new game and the dark elf guy at the start looked like he dove on a grenade. I won't be playing until somebody can think up a fix for this problem...

i'd assume its a problem with the drivers for the Intel HD series... not much anyone can do but wait for updated drivers... maybe those will come with 10.8.

Have you tried one of the 1.5x engines?
I get a lot of glitches with my ATI card, but most of them disappear in the 1.5x series although my fps drop dramatically (in newer games to unplayable).

Weirdly enough, whenever I have graphic glitches (and ATI cards produce a lot of them) , I switch to my Intel HD 3000 and it usually works fine. (Then again I'm running 10.8, maybe it has newer drivers)

Anyway, one thing that helped me sometimes is disabling glsl shading in winetricks (just type glsl in the searchbox) - not all games will run when it's disabled, but especially with older games it might just do the trick.

If nothing works, there is a cider-ported version available as torrent which worked fine for me, otherwise try putting it in one of the wrappers available in the cider section.

I am also having this problem (is there an echo?). As it so happens, I am also using HD 3000, and this only happens when I try to make my own wrapper of the pre-made wrapper here in the database. However, the full game port in port back-ups works, but I can't seem to get the launcher working which means I can't use mods that switch out the .esm and what not. Anyway, I will try disabling the shading next time around.

I hope someone figures this out, I'd love to get some graphics mods running on the ol morrowind.

That's because the bakup is a Cider port, not a Wine port, they work differently. Cider has its own native driver instead of X11, but Cider cannot display windowed applications, that's why the launcher doesn't work and cannot work (at least not until Drakulix finishes CiderX 2.0). There must be a way to set mods in a text file though. I don't know where but it has to be stored somewhere.

You could try using the mod manager here:  http://morrowind.nex...com/mods/26260/

It probably won't run in cider, but putting Morrowind and the manager it in a wine wrapper, configuring the mods and then putting it back should work fine.

i really want to write a mod, but tes construction set crashes when saving, creating a new object reference, or landscape editing. is there no way to get this program to run? i downloaded the wineskin wrapper for morrowind, the game works fine really, bit of lag now and then, but no major complaints. as for the construction set...

Mod editors generally have a problem working in Wine, if you want to write a mod you're best off doing it on Windows where it will run anyway. Or you wait for the OpenMW editor to come along, or, even better, you can help out the developers:
https://openmw.org/en/

Even if you cannot help coding you can still help testing or researching and comparing OpenMW to the original Morrowind. There will be a new release soon and it's quite possible that version 1.0 (complete replacement for the original Morrowind engine) will come this year.

Make sure to help in testing the current release clients, release 0.21 is on its way. The first batch of RCs has been built today.
